First off, let me say I know zero about comics or even where to buy them. I have been checking out some of the covers and superdickery.com and it has peaked my interest in reading the stories that go to these bizarre covers. Are there any online archives that have the stories? All I can find are covers. Or are there readily available compilation books or something? Thanks.

There are Marvel and DC compilations of the major heroes at your local Borders or B&N's. Not in color most of them but a lot of the original art and story is all intact.

I've really enjoyed the originals of The Zombie, Dr. Strange, Sgt Rock, Jonah Hex and House of Mystery.

Marvel has also done various pdf compilations on cd that you can still find from time to time.

Try your local public library also. Here in Toronto we can borrow comics from Donald Duck from the 50's,classic Marvel and DC compilations to mangas like Naruto and Inu Yasha.

Thanks for the info. I checked both the DC and Marvel website. Marvel has the digtal comics which looks like a deal. I couldn't find something similar from DC. I found the book archives, but do they not offer anything ditgal like Marvel?

Michigan State University has a large collection of early comics that was donated to them in the 70's. I am pretty sure they are cataloged online.
