Its not quite one-of-a-kind, but one-of-three-of-a-kind.

Must be one of those "more money than sense" things…

Looking at the text, I don't think that this "project" was too expensive, actually. Unless you factor in the time spend on it by three or so people, of course.

I'm referring to the current bidding.

Oh, quite. My mistake.

Slimer?

Hmmm.

Looks like some sort of spoof to me. Have you looked at the bidders history. An Amazing similiarity I think you'll agree!

No, it's the real deal. Howard Tayler announced the auction on his blog, under the comic. (For those who don't understand, this is the title character from Schlock Mercenary, the best hard science-fiction space opera military mercenary comedic adventure comic on the web: schlockmercenary.com It's also among my favorites. Updates *daily*, and has for several years. So if you're not up to speed, expect to spend a lot of time catching up in the archives. But you'll love every second of it.)

"But you'll love every second of it."

Ummm… no. Not even remotely.

That needn't affect *your* enjoyment, though.

That reminds me, I should really dig out that green of the modular Schlock I was working on way back when. I think I had a couple of the arms done, each with different guns…

Ummm… no. Not even remotely.

Okay, people who appreciate humorous hard sci-fi military action adventure comics will love it (which is what I implied anyway). Fair enough?

(In an old fart mood today, Allen?)

Yes. On both counts.

Have days like that myself. grin

I generally enjoy Schlock Mercenary, but I do find it to suffer from a preponderance of deus ex machina.

There is also a high amount of handwavium involved. But that doesn't bother me as much.

You mean Petey? grin

Given it's pretty much a parody of militant space operas I would assume at least some of the handwaves are quite intentional. Probably not all of them but I suppose Tayler's not attempting to keep the comic on a truly tight leash, either plotwise or backgroundwise.
