These were a hoot. I saw the series in NYc dring the 1966 showing in some now defunct theater. We were off on Thurs. and went to school 1/2 a day on Sat. (Catholic Seminary that followed French system). My good friend and I would go to NYC and check out all sorts of movies and Comic stores and old pics that they sold.
A real pain explaining why we weren't in school to truant officers
The Series was great. I remember Batman escaping a Fire by whipping out a 2-3 foot FIRE EXTINGUISHER from under his Bat Cape.

In my head I thought "cereal" instead of "serial" -- mmmmm….1943 breakfast flakes…yum.

Is it as good as the Captain Marvel serials?
Those have all sorts of quaint escapades… like the part where Captain Marvel machine-guns the fleeing Arabs in the back… or the part where he picks up that would be assassin and throws him off the rooftop.
Man, what wholesome fun those are!!!

I'm still making my way through Clyde Beaty's 'Darkest Africa' serial… the one with the secret Hawkman empire.

Wait… Why does the Big Red Cheese need to use a machine-gun to make other men flee? Doesn't he have super-powers?

Space Monkey14 Jan 2008 11:01 p.m. PST

Dunno… just know that there is a scene where some evil turbaned types have set up a gun nest to ambush Billy's pals…
Shazam! flies down behind the baddies and when they high tail it out of their pill box he grabs up the machine gun and mows them down as they run away.

>Is it as good as the Captain Marvel serials?<

Not even close. "The Adventures Of Captain Marvel" is one of the best serials ever made!

I've got the Captain Marvel Serial… guess I need to finish watching it.
I'll also go check out the Batman Serial. I had it on VHS years ago, but it's lost in a black hole called my storage building…

I'm going to have to get that!

I love the ears (or should I say horns? Get the dvd and you'll know what I mean).

I also love the millionare mansion… My house is almost as big. Times change. lol!!!

>I'm going to have to get that!<

I think you're going to be disappointed.

Man, that was cool. No way to explain that off as an accidental death. Picks him up, runs to the edge of the roof and chucks him off. Then he continues to look over the edge, apparently wanting to see the SPLAT!
