Summer Glau's making an appearance there to promote the debut of 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' the same night. I may have to miss it though because of the SD/Indy and DAL/NYG playoffs.

Who gives a crap about Summer Glau, Leelee Sobieski is going to be there. Not only is she one of the hottest hotties in hottiewood but she is a descendant of King John Sobieski. Or so I read on the internet. whether it is true or not she has a high degree of hottability.

There both fairly cute li'l gals, but nothing worth driving down to LA for. Hack, I wouldn't even go see William Shatner at GenCon LA when there wasn't a line!

A whole lot of Poles have claimed to be royalty and descended from the Sobieskis. That's why you can go to Edinbugh, and no matter whether your last name is Zamboni or Hung, they'll dig out a clan tartan for you.

I don't know who these people mentioned above are, but may I just point out that there is even a Singh tartan.

Ooh, that'll be a rare one then, Singh being such an uncommon name among Sikhs and all.

Yes, one would question the utility of Punjabi telephone books. Very big K and S sections, and not a lot else.

Though there are some* British Sikh celebrities that don't use Singh as their surname, such as Monty Panesar and Hardeep Koli. Maybe they got fed up with people phoning them up when they were after an entirely different Mr. Singh.

*I say 'some', but thinking about it, they may well be the only two British Sikh celebrities currently.

Bally Sagoo? He abandoned the "Singh" apparently.

Bally Sagoo? Did some of the music for 'Bend it like Beckham', didn't he?

Which reminds me: Parminder Nagra, she's a Sikh and British. We've doubled our count already.

Or does she count as American now that she's in E.R.?

Yeah, but she still uses Paminder Kaur Nagra:

And you can call her "Doctor"…

Really? Just says Parminder Nagra on my 'Beckham' DVD.

I suppose, looking into it, if she's out then so are the other two I mentioned earlier:

They both have Singhs slipped in there somewhere.

I do love a good thread hijacking!

Covert Walrus10 Jan 2008 4:54 p.m. PST

Indeed. And to hijack it myself, the number of Scottish soldiers serving in India was probably large enough to see intermarriage with the locals and thus adoption of clan tartans by some of the descendants.

After all, there were a lot of Irish as well, which has lead to two celebrities born in India – Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan.
