The cult film classic 'The Warriors' will be on Turner Classic Movies tomorrow morning at 4:15 a.m. Eastern, 3:15 a.m. Central. In thinking about it, this flick could be the basis for an interesting wargaming scenario. Any suggestions for figures? |

Coincidently Golden State is in town to play Dallas tomorrow. I don't think they make a Don Nelson figure though
some of the Foundry Street Violence should work. At least the guys carrying basball bats

Excellent. Definitely the best Sword and Sandal epic going. There was a range of posable action figures. But check out eBay and you will be amazed at the silly prices some of them (particualry Ajax) go for.

Yes it bloody-well is. It is loosely based on Xenophon's 'Anabasis.' link It even has Cyrus getting killed at the start (Can you dig it?) Okay, so it's set in New York rather than Asia Minor, but it's still a sword and sandal epic in my book. |

I stand corrected. Thanks, Plynkes. :-) |

I was only fooling around, Saginaw. Sorry for swearing, don't know why I did that. I suppose it's more of a 'boots and baseball bats' epic, if we're going to be precise. |

The Warriord are about the street gangs of NY. A little on the fantasy side but a fun flick from the 70's none the less. The Baseball Battys's were a bit over the top if you ask me. But the chick gang were kinda hot though. :) |

'Warriors, come out and playyyyy
' That line always creeps me out. |

The New Yorker's film critic at the time, Pauline Kael, went completely bananas over the Warriors and held it up in reviews of other films as a paragon of art. |

I really like the movie. I picked up the anniversary release which had all the extra stuff for the movie (showing the gang at it's turf before they ever leave in Coney). The Warriors women were in that part of the movie and the gang is pretty large. Some gaps were filled in. Thanks, John |

The make up for the Baseball Furies was inspired by the droogs in Clockwork orange. If you are going to play the wargame then dont forget the many other gangs that were shown but not engaged such as the High Hats! |

Side note: MST3K used "Warriors, come out and PLA-ayyyyy!" many times in their movie riffs. Until I was in college, I had NO clue what they were talking about. |

"A modern-day remake of the film is set to be directed by Tony Scott, with a tentative release date of 2008. The remake will include real gang members and try to create a modern version of the story, set in Los Angeles. [7]" NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! |

>Side note I always liked Pop Will Eat Itself's use of "CAAAAAN U DIG IT!" in their song of the same name. Now THAT's dating myself

Lots of ideas in this TMP thread from April 2007, as well as a complete listing of the gangs in "The Warriors": TMP link |

I did not know that – very interesting. |

It made me even a bigger Eagles fan. Somewhere out on that horizon

The version of the song used in the movie is solo Joe Walsh. The Eagles re-recorded it for the Long Run album because they were a little short on material. The more you know

Also that DJ played by the late Lynne Thigpen did quite a job too. |

Loved the movie and was very impressed with how in shape the actors were. Man, they did a lot of running in that movie. With all the takes I bet the were tired at the end of the day. |

I remember seeing the film when I was about ten, my mates and I went to Newcastle and bought baseball bats as a result, only my Mam went mad and make me take it back, especially when she found out I had pinched her make up to paint my face :0) and they say TV can be dangerous
sheesh |
