Just in time for the holidays, another 500+ pages of vintage DC war comics:

No spandex-clad superheroes here, just page after page of highly implausible war comics. Goes nicely with the earlier reprint volumes of the Haunted Tank, the Unknown Soldier, and of course the War That Time Forgot.

Still waiting for Star Spangled War Stories.

The War That Time Forgot and Unknown Soldier both come from Star Spangled War Stories, and Enemy Ace, which was the cover feature of Star Spangled between those two, is due early next year. If you want the non-series stories from the title, you may have to wait a bit longer (it may be some time before they reprint "You Can't Pin A Medal On A Gorilla!" picture )

Boy, I used to love those comics when I was a kid. Even then, I knew they were kind of far-fetched.

Richard Humm, thanks for sharing "You Can't Pin a Medal on a Gorilla." that made my day!

Joe Kubert, my all time favorite comic book artist!

Actually, there was a rumor on the blogosphere a while back that DC was going to do an "all gorilla" reprint volume in the same vein as the "all dinosaur" War That Time Forgot book. So maybe we'll get "You Can't Pin A Medal On A Gorilla!" someday soon…
