It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

I was just curious, with Eden Studis suposidly releasing a COH roleplaying that is seemingly dead in the water with no news of coming out. Has anyone seen a fancreated RPG of this. I would of thought someone out there would of made their own d20 version of COH or something. Anyone seen anything like it.

Why not just use Mutants & Masterminds?

I have played was just wondering if there was something more like the game itself. Wih powersets etc.

I don't know why it needs it's special version as there are so many superhero games out there that would work just fine.

The Hero System comes to mind.

Between the current version of the Hero System and GURPS Supers, who'd need another superhero game?

Hundvig Fezian28 Nov 2007 8:34 a.m. PST

Given the fact that Eden Studios is co-located with our local gaming store, I could suppose I could ask.

I'm with CPBelt, though…Mutants & Masterminds will handle it just fine. Or Champions, if you prefer Hero System to warped d20.

I hope Eden Studios does put the game out soon. Not to really play in that system but just to see how they do it. I tend to buy quite a few superhero rule sets (heck they even have one for the Tunnels & Trolls v7 rules) just to see how they do it. I guess I am easy when it comes to superhero rules. :)

Maybe it doesn't need to be a game unto itself… but a sourcebook would be really useful for people who want to base a game in that setting. Something that collects all the background info from the online game and suggests game mechanics (for whatever system) that will capture the feel of COH/COV.

Three "current" RPG engines (M&M, Hero, GURPS Supers) and a skirmish engine (Supersystem) already, and they want to do another? Supers are a shrinking market, if the comics themselves are any indicator, so saturation and death-by-division are not good things on the RPG side.

I don't know. My wife says I read too many comics so I do not see it shrinking for me. :)

Hundvig – Please ask. I am certainly curious.

I've never been that into superhero comics… but I enjoy playing COH. I think it's got a pretty distinctive flavor… and a lot of 'pulp' content that I enjoy. It's not as over-the-top powerful as (I assume) most comic based settings would be.
I've got no idea if there is an audience for a TTRPG for that setting though.

m&m will work fine in my opinion. Though if eden ever gets around to publishing COH they might just print and pay for my contribution the book. dont think it's happening though.

I seriously doubt Eden will ever publish this book. Just from reading the forum about it you get the feeling it has been dead for awhile. I think it would be best if Eden sold their rights to someone else.

tommahawk01 Dec 2007 1:50 p.m. PST

Yep i think the it will never see the light of day too, and its strange cos I am sure it is something that will sell really well as it will appeal not only to gamers but to COH players too.

Eden studios did release a quickstart pack online so the game must have the rules and stuff nearly completed for that to be released, well i am asuming that is.

I'm with the people saying there are plenty of sets. Just use any of them, heck Heroes Unlimited was a great set of rules in my opinion I don't know if Heroes is the same thing or not but if it isn't I nominate Heroes Unlimited. I played a character who was a cross between Colossus and Wolverine.
