Interesting. Are you using airsoft? |

No. It's Laser Skirmish / Combat equipment. Most of the weapons are from BFL or LCT or selfmade but all run the latest version of FragTag software. This software is so advanced we can track hits, kills, health, ammo, accuracy, near misses and heals. It's awesome stuff. And with ranges up to 150m on a sunny day, it leads to some awesome modern combat simulation. |

Are these events for current military training? Or just for fun? If the latter it seems a little creepy to "simulate" current ops in Afghanistan, including recovering the decapitated body of a captured A-10 pilot

They are 'for fun' but more so for the experience. Most of the guys are current or ex personnel and they are the ones who called for the content to be more current and more realistic. The reason for the decapitated body was that as the 'technical' drove off the head fell off the dummy so we threw the rest of him out for them to exfil at their next casevac for extra weight. I don't know about you but 'simulating' current ops around the world out in the field and on the tabletop gives me and others a little more understanding of what is going on. All my sessions whether in the field or on tabletop have hours of research and brainstorming with others. Some of the guys that come to either event leave with a lot of light bulbs having gone off. |
