Guthroth asked:

I'm surprised to see that there is no forum for gamers who are also re-enactors. Is it possible one might be created?

Sure thing!

Here's one guy who's done that. ACW period.

Here you all go – a blast from the past – enjoy! larp.com/hoplite/bronze.html

this obession with new boards is becomming worse than Ivan Polaskis obsession with collecting severed heads in his freezer. It will all end in tears.

I'm into Vikings and Saxons myself.

But I have found that as I explored the re-enactment side of things, pre-gunpowder wargames virtually cease to bring any enjoyment at all.

Has anyone else found that re-enactment has blunted their enjoyment like this ?

Guthroth:

Why would it? Just curious? I don't reenact (except certain crimes I've committed)…so no real insight. Possibly because you get more involved in the "larger" version? I would think one would be even more enthused with the period in question, though.

Guthroth13 Jun 2007 6:45 a.m. PST

The period, yes.

The way it's represented on the table-top no.

And yes, I have been part of 1000-a-side battles at Hastings in England.

Either way, sounds like you're getting the best out of it. v/r, Dean

I reenact 18th Century but prefer to game the Medieval period. Truth be told, there are plans for a 1066 era event in Pennsylvania this October so I am piecing together a Huscarl kit.

Must admit, I could never get into "out of area" re-enctment.

To me it makes Bleeped text all sense to re-enact Gettysburg in a park in the middle of Berlin.

Although, from reports, these 1066 events in the U.S are quite impresive.
