Hi,

I've been sent an MP3 that I'd like to use for my message alert on my mobile. My mobile supports MP3 as a ring tone but only supports .mmf files for message alerts. I've seen plenty of shareware apps that will convert MP3 to .mmf. However, as I will only converting one file, I don't really want to buy anything. So my question is, is there any freeware or another method that I can use to do this conversion?

Try googling

MP3 to mmf open source

Quite a few hits come up. I've no idea which is best, or easiest to use, but it's worth a try.

Hi,

I did do a google, and the freeware hits that came up for me tended to be shareware apps when you investigate further.

Surely Shareware gives you a trial period (e.g 15 days) before you are obliged to buy it.

Just install the shareware, do your conversion and then uninstall before the trial expires.

Otherwise try these, they are freeware (most other software I have seen is actually built on top of these applications anyway)!

They are primitve but do the job very well!

Check the site for the maker of your phone, mine (a nokia) has a free download program for managing files on the phone.
