Time once again to update/improve the old website. Right now, I'm working on how we should "do" our figure listings. I simply hate tables – Yuk!

The thought I have in mid right now is to make for myself a one stop shop – online, CD and printed formats can all be generated from a single source. What I have in mind is to "do" my figure listings as PDF files. They should download fairly fast – or almost as fast a large HTML page. I could also have two options: 1) with pictures and 2) without pictures. Since we don't have an interactive cart system, I think this will work nicely. When we get to the point of having an interactive cart system I may need to revisit this approach, but until them…

Anyhow, so my question for you all is this: What do you think of presenting figure listings as PDFs rather than more traditional HTML table formatting?

PDFs are nice, but you need a shopping cart

One plus for you – the PDF system will mean easier updates. Just replace the file rather than editing the HTML. And, as you noted, one source document for the webpage, CD, and printed catalogs.
