b'jesus , what a nightmare . I have had some very poor FAA castings since january ( from s/wall ) - lots of missing barrels ( over 50%) , broken horses legs etc- what i want to know is who to blame ( if i order again From FAA direct )can i be gauranteed this won't happen again .

As a wholesale account of FAA's here in the states, I can say that of the dozens of orders and hundreds of packs sent from Baxter, NOT ONE of them had any casting issues. NOT ONE.......................

See also the post yesterday - AB counterfiet figure source identified - Stonewall.

The morale of the sorry saga would seem to be " avoid them like the plague ".

" Stonewall " that is.

So if the figures would never have made it out of quality control missing half of their gun barrels and horse legs, and customers *actually* are recieving them in such conditions, could it be that they are getting terrible quality recasts from Stonewall? More figure piracy?

I have known Baxter for 20 years, and I can tell you from a personal perspective that Baxter is not a slip-shod person would would permit quality control failures like that to occur.

Nathaniel,

Sounds that way to me, pretty sloppy ones at that!

colonelkurtz,

I've been a retailer of FAA for about 2 years now. I've ordered thousands of dollars worth of stock from Baxter and have never had a single problem with miscast figures.

Sounds like "Stonewall" has victimized yet another miniature figure maker by selling recast or as we call them "casties." I hope that FAA is not harmed by the fraud perpetrated upon them. Hmm - perhaps I will talk to some friends to see if they want to purchase more 20mm WWII figs!

If anyone has any question about FAA figures, I bought BAGS and BAGS of them at Nashcon. Many are as yet unopened as my painting queue is quite long but I will certainly open them up and take photos if anyone is interested. From what I can personally see they are the best 20mm figures I've ever owned. Fantastic casting and great poses and range.

contact me at pmancini @ yahoo.com if you are really concerned.

It would help if there was a "customer's gallery" at FAA where people could see miniatures painted by customers. I hate ordering "blind" anyhow, and in this case I think such a gallery would be indispensable in restoring the brand's profile.

as one of the Lead Monkeys who has sorted and bagged 1000's of FAA figure. i can tell you that Baxter runs a tight ship and wouldn't send out miscast. so if anyone received any miscast i can say with confidence that it didn't come from FAA.

Tardis27 Oct 2004 7:25 a.m. PST

Someone has placed a scan of FAA miscast figures in the SOTCW yahoo group which he states he bought direct from FAA.

baxterfaa27 Oct 2004 8:57 a.m. PST

I have seen the photos and apologize. The customer who posted them last bought direct from me in July 2001. The figures for that order came from John Bruce as part of the inventory to cover needs til the moulds arrived. I find it disturbing that rather than contact me to resolve the problem (either through refund or replacement) he chose the internet to air his complaints. However to each his own. I can promise you this that if you get a bad figure I will replace it or refund you the cost of the pack. The problem of the breakage could have been through shipment, as far as the miscast, I have nothing to say except sorry.

Baxter

You have my fullest sympathy on this one! The hang onto a sub-standard figure for three years and then post it at this time stinks! (If in fact that is the real story.)

I was going to respond to Mike that the SOTCW seems to me to be a (largely) UK based organisation and although someone believes that he bought FAA he may well have been deceived in that if he bought it from a UK source - that's what this whole mess is about. It is also a serious problem which you are going to have to address - restoring confidence.

Cheers

Mike

I myself started a thread about bad casts from FAA and after looking into it, the bad cast figs I saw were purchased from Stonewall figures not FAA direct. I think we have a recaster in our mist.

I've been hard on FAA in the past but damit, this is not FAA's fault, and there's nothing I hate more than someone recasting a figure. There's alwo NO WAY Old Glory would send out crap like that. Stonewall = Avoid.
