Very damn clever solution, for a bunch of dirty apes! :)

What a fantastic idea.

wow, at first glance I did not even see the bases until I read the post…very cool!

Gary Hunt Miniatures09 Apr 2018 4:13 p.m. PST

Pretty cool, useful. :)

Brilliant, and useful… but something just doesn't sit right: the circle and square seem less obvious in an visual/platonic sort of way…

Neat experiment.

I think "Y" shaped clear bases should be the next experiment. They would be almost as stable, while allowing even closer and easier placement in and around terrain and other figures.

Yes, a "Y" maximizes contact potential and stability.

Thanks for your comments, we will try a Y shape when we get back from Salute, however the benefit of 'X' is that if fits the shape of most miniatures legs. I've just added a stack more photos showing these bases to my hobby blog @ link

Interesting. I was looking at getting some more clear bases for my Spectre figures, these look better than the circular ones so I may have to wait a bit longer.

We have these available for order now: link

We will have some with us at shows, Salute, Hammerhead, Partizan etc.

The X does look to be a more stable platform than a Y for many figures and tabletop situations.

I love science!

I have long wondered if small, wire X shapes, painted black, would be better way to mount telephone poles and the like. This may encourage me to actually try it!

We have had a number or requests for same shape for 32mm round bases. We will be doing that next week when we get back from Salute, so if any one would like this shape, but in a different size let me know and we will get it sorted.

Sorry to naive but is this a recurring theme

What do clear bases look like after dullcote matt spray?

I imagine they are no longer clear ??

I have matt varnished vehicles by accident. The windscreens went opaque. I'd imagine the same with the bases.
