The rules sound pretty interesting; I'd like to learn more. I wish that there were some dedicated 6mm ranges and that Pendraken would do a remake of their 10mm RJW range, they are nice figures but I wish there were more poses and updates sculpts.

I bought a set. They look to be fast and bloody. I don't have any figures for this period. Perhaps I'll make up some cardboard counters and try the game out. Infantry/cavalry/machine guns are on 3 x 1.5 inch bases, battalion HQ are on 2 inch diameter circles. Some D6 and deck of playing cards are needed.

Game lasts at least 7 turns, with die rolls determining if the game goes longer.

There are a couple things in the rules that seem left over from an earlier version, like a cavalry support option that does not appear in the order rules. I have a question or two. Is there a place to inquire from the designer?

$7.50 USD for a 9 page rule set seems a bit pricey. I didn't see anything in the sample pages that distinguishes the rules as RJW specific. Hoping for a review because I have looking for an RJW specific set of rules for a long time.

Hi all, we have set up a facebook page for this game, and posted a battle report with pictures

facebook.com/IkonkiGame

Hope that gives you an idea of how the game plays and the kind of forces involved. This was a mock-up playtest and we just used 1/72 Russian and Japanese WW2 miniatures which are cheap and widely available.

That's cruel, showing us a battle that far without saying who won – though the Russians seem to be on their back foot.

I do find the idea of higher orders coming down to the player quite interesting.

I do have a few questions. is there somewhere to send them?

Yep you can email me at thespidersrepublic@hotmail.com or message us on the Ikonki facebook page.

At that stage the game didn't have specific victory conditions, and was more an exercise in "command Bleeped textery" as I like to call it. I'd say it was a Japanese victory though, as they had pushed well into the Russian lines, and the Russians hadn't evacuated anywhere near enough units to please high command.
