Blimey another one -when is the end date?

Good question…maybe it is 2012!! LOL

I would rather see the prices in euro reflect current exchange rates (1.1 euros to a pound) instead of the one valid so long ago (1.6 euros per pound). This is an increase of 45% for those buying from the eurozone, which may be legal, but it is unfair and really bad business practice. This surely is putting off a good number of us, who would otherwise be more than happy to buy from Foundry!

So This means that the prices are not right???????

They're "right" in the sense of that's what you'll get charged, but aren't equivalent to the UK price.

Griefbringer23 Dec 2009 1:10 p.m. PST

Of course one can order from other retailers stocking Foundry (such as Caliver books) that do not charge such screwed up exchange rates.

RobH23 Dec 2009 1:13 p.m. PST

What they are in effect saying is:

Dear European customers, as a special deal we are only overcharging you by 25% compared to UK buyers normal prices instead of our usual 45%.

The same gouging hits US customers too.

If they are always offering 20% discounts, then maybe they should just simply cut their prices by 20% permanently.

But isn't this what happens to us Brits every time we want to buy tech products we hit the £1=$1, don't even get started on Adobe who make it a corporate policy to charge more outside the US, even for downloaded product!

I suppose that this type of reciprocal arrangement would help with the balance of payments on a national level but I'm not sure what working arrangement Foundry has with Adobe?

ioannis23 Dec 2009 3:12 p.m. PST

Paul, yes, you're right. But, the mere fact that the other side is doing the same does not make it right in either case! I too have to pay 1 euro = 1 dollar when I buy from itunes or other US based enterprises, and this practice has stopped me many times from buying a certain product when I could find an alternative.

Duc de Limbourg23 Dec 2009 4:05 p.m. PST

In fact it's completely stupidicy to let Euro-countries pay 45% more for a product.
The Foundry prices are already very high (the highest??) so to put an extra "bonus" on the price because of a faulty currency change is a complete ripp-off.

I can just add that I have not bought miniatures from Foundry due to that practice of stupid exchange rates for at least three years, when my monthly budget for minis is well in three digits and Foundry covers a LOT of ranges that I collect.

Its usually cheaper to buy from "rest of the world" with the added 20% then to buy in Euros. But its not possible.

And, as a special policy, hordes or collections only come directly from them, not via retailers.

So, Foundry, thanks for the discount. But thanks no. Swap your policy to charge ONE price and then add shipping, and I will be back.

BTW: I also dumped some software sales from the US when I noted (at checkout) that they simply translated $ to €, and swapped to free software.

cloudcaptain23 Dec 2009 9:01 p.m. PST

Sorry…I don't buy minis from companies that do not cater to wargamers :)

Jeffrey P24 Dec 2009 7:12 a.m. PST

It does seem rather odd that the closing date is not given on TMP nor on their own web site. Makes it look a little bit slapped together.

KONKURUR25 Dec 2009 5:19 p.m. PST

Oooooh, Mr. cloudcaptain! THAT will leave a mark!

Words fail me! Collect man! .. collect! Everyone knows what wargamers are …..
