That horse being supported on only one leg just begs for it to break off.

Unfortunately it was designed by BattleCat Miniatures as a one piece miniature other than the head. I occasionally run into this issue with my printed figures for my collections and what I do is perhaps place a rock under a leg, or even use a piece of sprue and paint it black.

Thanks the thought Jim :)

My first thought was The Headless Horseman.

BattleCat – formerly Warbear, markets these as AWI British Lt Dragoons. They come with heads with the Legion helmets as well as the Lt Dragoon helmet. Sadly, they don't have the Legion infantry.

Yes that is very true. Did the Legion infantry wear a tricorne?

I found this image just now searching for the head gear of the foot. This looks surprisingly close to the model I wonder if they used it for a reference?

Do you have ANY control over the design?
The very obvious flaw is the very tiny base that will be very difficult to mount on a standard size base.
Then, it is also very obviously prone to snapping off.
The final thing is that this is an impossible pose for a horse. As soon as "motion picture" footage of a horse's gait was taken, almost immediately after movie cameras were invented, it was shown that overly dramatic poses were not only foolish, but non-existent.
I never buy miniatures of horses with fewer than 3 legs on a sturdy base.
These may be nice for an artistic figure, but useless for a gaming figure.

I just wish Battlecat would take the time and fix some of the ahistorical bits on his SYW stuff

I know I do as well but they are designers first, gamers and historians second. Still they do offer a lot of goodies we can't get in lead or larger scales.

The dumb guy07 Aug 2024 11:54 a.m. PST

Why don't you work with them?
If you are producing figures, and are not satisfied with them yourself, don't you have input?
Obviously you are paying a fee, or have a license arrangement. Doesn't that give you any say?

DeRuyter07 Aug 2024 11:55 a.m. PST

The infantry wore a jockey cap, rather than the Tarleton helmet. I have a box of Perry British infantry with the right heads, but they have the early war breeches. Unfortunately, I can't load the photo above – the vagaries of filters at work!

I have found that the Battlecat AWI are in some respects more accurate than OG AWI.

Could you drop a link to a pic on the web? i might have those as I have so many hat varieties from them in my files.

Here is an example of a print by Troiani and he does research the uniforms for his subjects.

My understanding is that, Don Troiani not withstanding , there is no substantiated evidence about the type of headgear worn by the BL infantry. My best guess is that they wore round hats
