Oh, they are gorgeous. I will have to get some of the sailors – here's hoping NorthStar will stock them.

Sumatran Rat Monkey06 Mar 2012 11:32 a.m. PST

The sheer *character* of these is unbelievable.

Paul Hicks has been one of my favorite sculptors for years, but lately, it seems to me like he's rivaling the esteemed Tom Meier in sheer expressiveness and craft.

I agree, the excellant sculpts are full of character. I have the RN sailors and naval landing party, they are superb--very clean figures that are ready to paint. I will order these French sailors soon.

We like!!!!!!

Especially since I'm looking for Spanish guerillas and French dismounted dragoons.

Jeff Trnka06 Mar 2012 1:32 p.m. PST

Grats Lon !! thumbs up
Lon how do the dismounted dragoons match up with Perry's?

DeanMoto06 Mar 2012 1:42 p.m. PST

Jeff:

You may be asking about size matching, but it appears these are in the earlier coat (by the lapels & waistcoat), whereas the Perry guys are in the later 1812 Bardin reg coats. Otherwise they look like they'd fit in well side by side with the Perry dragoons. Dean

I know you paint fast Gunfreak, but yeah you can afford them. They are priced competitively and I will do large unit deals.

More to come…

dam040906 Mar 2012 2:28 p.m. PST

Are the large unit deals on the web?

Cardinal Hawkwood06 Mar 2012 2:30 p.m. PST

Captain dEwell06 Mar 2012 2:47 p.m. PST

No doubt about it, these are quality sculpts. Well done.

eptingmike06 Mar 2012 2:54 p.m. PST

I could see the French sailors as Canadian militia/sailors for War of 1812.
Regardless, those are all wonderful figures.

There are some on the web, but contact me via the contact us page (it is the best way) for what you are looking for. They would need to be at least the size of the other deals or larger on a group of figures (e.g. a British line unit, a French line unit, etc.)

Be aware that I will pretty much be out of the loop until Monday because of Cold Wars so I might not be able to get back to you until then.

Just to give you a little more to froth over, here are more of our RN Landing Party painted by Richard Lloyd and our French Dromedary Command from a customer's collection.

Orderd som victrix metal russians and a unit of french in bicorne.

Cheriton06 Mar 2012 4:24 p.m. PST

Anyone know how these and the Gendarmes compare with Victrix Peninsular troops?

Victrix metal is also sculpted by Paul Hicks so 100% compatible. As far as the plastics our metals are sized to be compatible with Perry and Victrix.

Huh? You have a BLOG?! Traitor! Dean

coggon06 Mar 2012 5:55 p.m. PST

Lon-are you planning on doing Royal Marines to go with the landing party?

Brownbear06 Mar 2012 10:25 p.m. PST

Would love to see infantry in the earlier 1792-1795 coat, Hornblower at Quiberon would then be posssible

Marc the plastics fan07 Mar 2012 2:57 a.m. PST

Oh, they are very nice. Almost tempting me back from my 1/72 to go and do Egypt. Lovely paintwork on lovely figures – well done to you all.

Checking on size comparison Dean, thanks. Now have to see if I'm still capable of doing conversions. :)

Thanks for taking the time to confirm. Looking at the images of the French Egypt in Egypt range, I really couldn't see how this was not the same, very talented, sculptor.

Excellent news all around…
