"Blimey lads! Too many undesirable people are purchasing our fine product. We are not the "People's Wargame", we are for the gaming elite! We must increase prices to maintain our exclusive image!" Our minds are one. |

I believe the Foundation Paint Set is $15 USD cheaper in the U.S. |
nudspinespittle | 30 Mar 2007 12:21 p.m. PST |
The U.K price hike always hits in April. The U.S. will see the same price hike hit in July. It happens every year. I must say, though, if that list is complete, it'w quite constrained compared to price hikes from the past, where everything was usually jacked up in price. It's really a shame what top management has done to a company that used to dominate the TTG market and I doubt they'll ever have the customer base they once enjoyed. I really wish Kirby and his entourage would buy it in a plane crash. |

Now, more folks will become disgusted and dump their 40K figures on eBay, where I can pick them up cheaply! Thank you, GW! |

"I just find it funny that they had to tell us what the price difference is between £10.00 GBP and £12.00" That's not for "us"; that's for the regular GW customers. Allen |

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you. |

Oh Look! Another price increase! From the Broadway hit "Gamer on the Roof." "I wish I were a rich man. then I buy all the Games Workshop figures!" Then saw our hero gamer, surrounded by GW minis weeping and wailing as GW priced itself out of his range.

Blaming a price rise on the fluctuating nature of the commodities market is a cop out. GW has made the choice to pass on costs to the consumer (if this was the reason for the price hike in the first place). One day soon, the golden goose will be killed. |

Eh, they're just testing the demand elasticity. I'll keep buying, just less of it. |

Price increases are good for "The Hobby". |

For most of us GWs prices would be too much if they were halved or quatered. Most of us are put off by constant rule changes designed to get us to buy new models and new armies. Most of us aren't going to buy GWs models anyway (except at less than retail from ebay), so why would they care what we think? They would be foolish to pay attention people never likely to form part of their customer base. If they cut prices to a level which satisfied most wargamers I don't they could continue with so many, or perhaps any, retail stores. If they think that they can do better business by selling more expensive models it is their choice. Other companies sell expensive models. Tradition of london sell single figure 'kits' of 54mm figures for 6.95 pounds with same model painted for 42 pounds or so. Its just more difficult to swallow from GW as their prices didn't start sky high. I doubt GW will stay in business anyway. |

Heh. Why the press release? Like GW raising prices is news to anyone? Next they'll shock us by announcing another rulesset overhaul! |
| Heresy Miniatures | 31 Mar 2007 1:42 a.m. PST |
Hmm. Interesting indeed. Now MY monsters are even better value than GW, and still bigger. Must make a few more variants of each after salute
What makes me laugh (and raise my eyebrow, spock-like)here is that a lot of these £10.00 GBP to £12.00 GBP figs are actually single piece, regular size figs. The sort of thing that us indie types might sell for £3, £4.00 GBP or £5.00 GBP max, depending on just how much metal they had in them. The sort of mark-up we can only dream about! Wish I could charge £12.00 GBP for a single human sized fig and get people to still buy it(lmao) without me feeling guilty! I could pay off the £15,000 loan that's currently crippling me, in no time at all. heresyminiatures.com |

dear GW, how can you justify some of these price rises. Eldared up to £12? the mini is so old he must have covered his production costs by now. he's also a one piece mini and not that big. no more GW minis for me. you've gone too far this time. |
| Hillman | 31 Mar 2007 5:35 a.m. PST |
Guys, forget about it! This is part and parcel of GW's business model. I had a chat with a friend who used to work in a hobby store and dealt with GW directly. They have a thing called a "price ranger" (I think that's the name). They simply raise the price every year as a matter of principle, take it or leave it. Vote with your dollars. |

Hello, my name is Chris and I was a GW-holic. I've been clean for six years. Thank heavens! Now I can afford more of this: *prints out new price GW lists and does a jig on them*

I used to be a hardcore GW guy until about seven years ago and stopped buying their stuff cold turkey and went back into historicals 15/20mm. This doesn't surprise me at all and I thank the gaming gods everyday for kicking the GW habit and getting back to my gaming roots. Although I'll wait until after the price spike hits in July and then start selling my stuff off to all the disguntled GW addicts.I would like to thank GW for finally putting SOME coin back into my pockets. You buy your army. By the time you get around to painting it all the rules are out of date, you need newer models etc <yadder><yadder> I've got several regiments of Chaos Warriors which are now useless cuz they are only 4-wide. OK, I could paint some more but I forgot how I did them. I want things to look the part! AT-43 all the way for me, and roll-on a decent fantasy pre-paint game. Play out of the box the day you receive your models:) |

Oddly, I was planning on getting back into their models---at least their loss leader stuff like Macragge and Skull Pass and Mines of Moria. Anybody have an idea if these really are losses for GW, assuming the buyer only ever buys these starter kits? That might explain GW's extra crankiness about people selling them so cheaply for bitz. |
| Insomniac | 02 Apr 2007 8:38 a.m. PST |
Really go the whole hog
Grymn from Hasslefree: That way you are sticking two fingers up at the price rise and underlining the fact that GW made a big mistake when they got rid of Squats! ALSO there are a whole host of Grymn with more releases planned
they are great! I like Grymn, me :). Old Crow vehicles aslo go very well with Grymn, they are almost perfectly sized. No Limits has an army list for them, the rules are free to download and the game is great to play. GW are silly Billys
They lost my custom a few years ago and I laugh at their odd-management
HA! |
