We are all worried about Ukraine but I dont think notifying them that they cant get wargames figure's helps or is appropriate while they are listening to shells and bullets rain down, I have lots of people in the Ukraine and its difficult and scary for all – survival of Ukraine and themselves is what is at the front of there minds, not can UPS dodge the missiles to deliver my panther in 28mm

I was a bit taken aback when I saw this notice. I would think that whoever runs Warlord would have a personal message for their Ukrainian customers. Something other than, 'call back when the war is over.'

Since Warlord didn't do it, I will: I pray for the safety of all Ukrainians who are facing a war of naked aggression against their country. I have been very impressed by the fight Ukraine is putting up as badly out gunned as they are.

Good luck, and God Bless.

Redleg22526 Feb 2022 7:40 a.m. PST

I second what Dn Jackson has said. I feel for the people of a nation attacked by a larger, more aggressive nation.

dr beard26 Feb 2022 8:43 a.m. PST

Well said. What the hell were Warlord thinking when they released this? State the obvious why don't you.
Let right defeat might

Yes, I would have preferred to read a message of solidarity and support to the Ukrainian government and people, against this naked aggression by a radical tyrant wanting to recreate the Soviet Union.

On that note, I'd like to see that Warlord will also cease all shipments to Russia, China, the UAE, and India, who voted against censuring Russia at the UN, for the duration of this conflict, and until Russia withdraws from Ukraine and Crimea.

Of course, I don't expect that to really happen, but it would be nice if it would, and from a moral standpoint, it should.

If Ukraine falls, it will only be the first domino in the game Russia is playing. Many nations in Eastern Europe and the Baltics ARE at risk.

Hard to imagine a more crass message.

advocate +1. Do any responsible, empathetic adults work at warlord?

I think this might hurt Warlord's sales going forward. I've never bought from them, and now I likely never will.

jsmcc9126 Feb 2022 7:59 p.m. PST

What a bunch of idiots at Warlord. The whole PR department needs to be fired. That is the most disgusting and uncaring post from a company so far during this unprovoked attack on the Ukrainian people.

God Bless Ukraine and I hope they resist Putin and his despotic tyranny, the Ukrainians need help, maybe time for a legion of supporters like in the Spanish Civil war

Warlord – "Once you've been conquered by the KGB state, we will resume shipping toys to you".

So glad that they've never had a penny from me.

WG Lorenzo27 Feb 2022 5:52 a.m. PST

Well, when you are right, you are right.

On a day when every other conversation between colleagues here at Warlord, was about the shock and apprehension for the Russian attack and the fate of Ukraine, we completely missed the opportunity of doing the decent thing offering our sympathy first of all, and instead we just went ahead with writing a heartless notification of service levels.

We are mortified of how we handled this message and we will consider now what to do to provide a more truthful impression of how we also feel about the current situation and offer some form of solidarity.

For all that felt offended, disappointed or saddened about our unfortunate notice on the newsletter, please accept our heartfelt apologies.

Kind regards,

Lorenzo Pala

Well, it is a bit of common sense that the Ukrainian people may not be able to order Epic Napoleonics or a Russian WWII starter set and have it delivered. PR should know better. It makes the team look heartless for the Ukrainian people who have bullets and bombs around them and worrying about toy soldiers. This will not be forgotten as it should not.

It's weird because even though I am subscribed to numerous hobby news feeds via RSS, this was the only place I saw the service announcement from Warlord. Perhaps I missed it earlier?

whitphoto27 Feb 2022 3:10 p.m. PST

Well their PR department is obviously just as skilled as their editing team…

Bandolier28 Feb 2022 2:52 a.m. PST

Well, the apology is appropriate and appears sincere.

I have friends in a Central-Eastern Ukrainian city who are definitely more focused on getting to the local dilapidated Soviet-era shelter with their young children when the "missile warning alarms" (their words) are ringing several times a day.

Thresher0128 Feb 2022 12:11 p.m. PST

That is good of you and your company to recognize it, Lorenzo.

I do get that you were just trying to notify customers of the issue too.

Thank you to you and your company for the apology.

if it was me I would sack the guy that sent this senseless insensitive post

Red Jacket Supporting Member of TMP28 Feb 2022 9:31 p.m. PST

It is good that Warlord owned-up. I have a lot of respect for people or companies who can admit that they made a mistake. The matter is closed for me.

My $.02 USD cents,

Am I missing something? I read Allan's posting and it makes sense to me!
Good Luck Ukraine! Most of the educated and not brainwashed people on this planet are cheering for you!

AuttieCat,

I say this as someone who's bought from both companies multiple times, but I also read Allan's posting in this thread and was disappointed. Watching a manufacturer continue agitating for someone to be sacked over a poorly phrased news announcement from a competitor does not reflect well.

I think there's enugh unhappiness in the world right now without someone else losing their job unnecessarily, particularly given Lorenzo's response. And to think that people here complain about cancel culture.
