THat is just awesome. Perfect in-between level of play.

Do you have some more pictures of the game at SELWG with a write up? (Congratulations, by the way).

Thanks for the nice comments. We have two cameras with loads of pics and expect to upload them any day now.

The rules are intended mostly for 15 mm figures based for Capitan Games' upcoming 4th Edition of Napoleon's Battles, so that players can, if they wish, play both rule sets without buying, painting and basing new figures.

Our game used Knuckleduster 25/28mm figures based individually for a 1:10 figure:men ratio, so we had lots of mental arithmetic to do while we were playing. However, we found the rules sufficiently flexible to allow us to do this without too much brain-bashing. The club has now adopted the rules for in-house Napoleonic games and we finished the play testing last night. Miguel Costa is awaiting my final amendments to get the rules published and on sale. We shall continue to inform Capitan Games of any changes we judge are needed for the future so that a new edition can be produced if needed.

Keep your eyes peeled.

Congratulations, it was a fine looking game. I liked your terrain a lot; I'm giving those boards a lot of thought, for my next layout!

Cheers, Simon

It was a nice looking game indeed.

And might I say how good the attitude of the players was to their audience. My friend and I came up to the table, and one of the players immediately wandered over to us and asked us what we would like to know about the game. Excelllent public relations!

As one of the designers of Napoleon's Battles, I am confident the Divisional Commander rules will do justice to Napoleon's Battles. I only hope Napoleon's Battles will do justice to Divisional Commander.

Crysler's Farm is a great battle to war-game. Did you compile a report and photos on this game?

Congratulations on the new rules.

Looking forward to trying this out for 15mm War of 1812. Can the figure ratio of 1:10 be altered to 1:20? What sort of basing system do you use?

Thanks,

Capitan Games18 Oct 2013 11:58 a.m. PST

Hi Brian
The rules uses the same basing sizes & system of Napoleon's Battles, but at Battalion Scale, so approximately a Napoleon's Battles 24 miniatures Brigade (6 bases of four miniatures) is a Battalion in Divisional Commander, so a miniature is about 25-30 men. Players that has his Napoleon's Battles armies can use them to play Divisional Commander without any change.
In a few days all the info of the game will be uploaded at capitangamesonline.com
Thanks for all your nice comments

You are still going to publish the Army/corp level, 4th edition, of Napoleon's Battles too, right?

Strangemike18 Oct 2013 4:50 p.m. PST

Are you planning any USA outlets for the divisional rules?

Capitan Games18 Oct 2013 6:25 p.m. PST

Yes Napoleon's Battles 4th edition will be available at the end of this year, and yes our distributors in USA will have in short time NB Divisional Commander in USA

CATenWolde19 Oct 2013 2:19 a.m. PST

This is a very interesting development – I like the idea of connecting NB's to a lower scale game and having both smaller and larger battle options. I'll be looking at these closely. Nice looking game too!

Cheers,

Christopher

Hi guys – can anymore gives us some more info as to what's special/different/interesting about Divisional Commander?

Otherwise, it's just another Napoleonic set of rules – I'm not being snarky, just giving you an opportunity to communicate and convince us :)

Ditto.

alphus99,

As the co-designer of the original Napoleon's Battles, I am curious as to what current rules constitute "just another Napoleonic set of rules?" Also what rules do you play?

On Military Matters ( onmilitarymatters.com ) will be carrying them.
