Colours is a general wargaming event, not just Flames of War.

StaffordGames07 Aug 2009 1:38 a.m. PST

It's also a huge trade show at Newbury Racecourse and includes a FOW tournament as well as (I think) DBM, FOG and WAB tournaments.

There are also demo games, participation games and
re-enactment societies.

Just remember that Battlefront invented the WW2 hobby!

Cheers Andy(or is that Anthy..sounds like that with my tongue in my cheek!)

"There's no such thing as bad publicity"

Just be grateful someone bothered to mention the show at all ………..

Grah31a07 Aug 2009 3:31 a.m. PST

I don't play FOW. Looks like I won't be going to Colours now.

Vis Bellica07 Aug 2009 3:44 a.m. PST

I thought WW2 only happened because Battlefront wanted to launch FOW…let's just hope they don't get into Moderns.

Derek H07 Aug 2009 4:19 a.m. PST

That's a bit naughty of them.

Miniaturerealm07 Aug 2009 7:22 a.m. PST

You bimble along thinking they aren't so bad and then they strike with a headline straight out of the GW Bumper Fun Book of Things to Annoy Wargamers…

aecurtis Fezian07 Aug 2009 9:08 a.m. PST

For those offended, there is a UK point of contact given on the offending page:

No doubt that worthy would appreciate your thoughts.

By the way, how do you "e-mai" someone? Is that what Le Chiffre does to James Bond in "Casino Royale"? If so, you might wish to pursue that course of action.

Bill has not helped matters with his headline "FoW Colours set for September".

GeoffQRF07 Aug 2009 11:24 a.m. PST

Bill just hasn't changed it from the headline submitted – you put in your own headline when you submit a story.

It's obviously just a complete error, and what they meant to say was…

"Newbury and Reading Wargamers Society will by holding the annual Colours event [this being a wargames show event, as opposed to any sort of competing event] at Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire, UK [that's England] on the 12th and 13th September 2009. Although it doesn't say anything about it on the Colours website [yet, and so it might be a bit difficult to book anything in advance], we [believe/understand/know*] that there may [or may not, as it may depend on whether the organisers know anything about it] be a Flames of War event [being a competition type of event, rather than any other type of event] taking place this year. This event [use of the word already defined] may [or may not] be sponsored by [Battlefront/the gamers/the other traders/nobody*], who will be supplying [all/some of*] the prizes."

*Delete as appropriate

See, it's not that far different. :-)

Interestingly Colours clashes with the WPS Flames of War grand tournament which is being held in Birmingham on the same weekend. Isn't planning great ;)

GeoffQRF08 Aug 2009 5:20 a.m. PST

In answer to the question of a Flames of War event [being a competition type of event], I emailed the Colours organisers and asked:

"Yes there is but it is organized by the Spiky Club "

(Whoever the 'Spiky Club' may be…)

aecurtis Fezian08 Aug 2009 8:43 a.m. PST

Isn't it a category of weapon in Warhammer Fantasy Battle?

kevanG08 Aug 2009 8:58 a.m. PST

"Yes there is but it is organized by the Spiky Club "

Was the tufty club too busy?

jizbrand10 Aug 2009 6:42 a.m. PST

As Paul Harvey would have said . . . and now for the rest of the story.

I did indeed write to Battlefront about this subject. They sent a response Sunday evening, and I quote:

Greetings John,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding Colours, I've ammended this on the webiste. Thank you for bring it to my attention.

Kind regards,

Blake Coster
Wed Assistant
Battlefront Miniatures Ltd

And it has indeed been corrected on their website. So, an error with corrective action. Sloppy perhaps, but responsive nonetheless.

GeoffQRF10 Aug 2009 1:33 p.m. PST

I've ammended this on the webiste…

Should I commmmment? :-D

aecurtis Fezian10 Aug 2009 8:34 p.m. PST

The Wed Assistant takes care of ammending the webiste. Are you surprised?

Allen

GeoffQRF11 Aug 2009 5:44 a.m. PST

Lol, I hadn't seen that one :-)

Actually, when I first read this I thought that FoW were releasing a new paint set
