Too bad that poses C65 & C66 aren't in the Hardee's or any other ACW manual. They should be at "right shoulder shift", if rifle armed, or "shoulder arms" if armed with a smoothbore musket. "Shoulder arms" should have the musket in the left arm not the right. "Right shoulder shift" would have the rifle or rifled musket resting on the right shoulder, lock up, hand on top the end of the butt, fingers wrapped over the butt-plate. C71 makes no sense whatsover.

C71 makes sense if I have a rifle and a pistol and want to fire the pistol for whatever reason. Looks like a one-off pose for me for 1:1 skirmishing, where Hardee's goes out the window anyway since I want all my guys shooting, charging, or dying. :-)

They are not marching in a parade. They are on long week marches on hot dusty roads or moving across the battlefield watching the guys in front of them get blown away by musket balls or cannon fire. I'm sure they didn't follow the drill manual nor was the Sgt.so concerned about how they held their rifle. To get to their objective was the main thought.

Ha! I`ve just tryed to hold a similar musket like that and it can`t be done to march like that, it would just fall off your shoulder. There is a rout step where you can carry your musket any way you want, but these things are fairly heavy, so that as illustrated would be the last way I would carry mine.

They are plug in hands with the rifle attached, so you can adjust the rifle anyway you wish.
