Discontinuing them? That's a shame. |

Just placed an order, I was on the Brigade site and could not find the code for SWW081 |
Editor in Chief Bill | 01 Dec 2014 10:50 p.m. PST |
maybe SWW081 is already sold out |

Why would they do that? They are such awesome figs. I hope it's to relaunch a new range of the same subject. No one else does the Ramcke Brigade figs. |

Looking at the numbered packs I think I understand the reason. The pack numbers are for the North Africa Ramke Fallshrimjagers which is a pretty specific unit which is only going to be of interest for those of us who just must have that unit. The other packs are for the the Winter Germans in great coats which is far from complete, and again of limited use. The remaining packs are for Panzer Lher and late war Germans with MG 42s. These last packs are readily available in plastic in 28 mm from both Warlord and Wargames Factory so most likely Mike Owens has seen falling sales for these. |

Kallman, everything you've written is wrong, bless you. We can't cast Artizan Design WW2 fast enough, as Lon will testify. Far from shrinking sales, plastics are expanding the market so we're selling more than ever. There's an old saying, why look for a complicated answer when a simple one will do. Look at the weapons. |

Well Nick I am glad to be wrong on this count. So Nick can you shed a bit more light on why the particular codes are being discontinued? BTW I am a HUGE collector and fan of Mike's minis. In fact I have most if not all of the DAK range and the 8th Army plus the Late War in Smocks Germans and started on the American WW II ranges. Plus I have many of the Wild West, Thrilling Tales, and Dark Ages ranges. I've also had my eye on the French Foreign Legion Line for some time now. I just have too many projects and lack of time at the moment. Oh and there is that whole work, family, and graduate school thing going on. |

These packs were made in a period where Mike experimented with different sized guns. I've always been of the opinion they look too small, and in actuality those smaller weapons have been difficult to cast. Mike is expanding the WW2 German range, so we decided to take this opportunity to remove the 'little weapon' guys from the range as there will be new Panzer Lehr and Brigade Ramke in the near future, armed with the regular weapons. They are great figures, and it took a lot of discussion to drop them. And the weapon thing only matters when you're squinting at unpainted figures side by side, I've got these models in my German force and it doesn't mean a thing on the table-top. But the decision has been made… |

We're going to keep them on the website until the end of the week, so if you want to own some 'never to be seen again' figures, grab them now. What we'll do is make to order so no one gets short changed. Can't guarantee delivery before Christmas for Oz and North America now, sorry. |

They are in our newsletter that has just gone out. link |

Yes, we are already selling out of some of the codes. As Nick said, the thing weapons can sometimes be an issue. If my experience over the years dealing with the parcel carriers is an example, higher breakage of the codes with the thinner weapons is probably an issue as well. |

Nice if a new range of Panzer Lehr figures gets out, especially if it has everything you need – support weapons, etc. I'll look forward to seeing those. |
kallman | 02 Dec 2014 9:54 a.m. PST |
Well then this is a good thing all around and as I stated earlier I am glad my assumption was incorrect. |

Just want to point out that the Ramcke brigade figs can also be used for Italy, Siciliy, and some even for late war Europe depending on how you paint them. They are far from a low utility niche unit--except for maybe the guy in the Goering hat ;-) |

Looking forward to seeing the new figures, are any other ranges being expanded…. 7th cav, apaches, indians |

Now you mention it, the weapons do look on the small side, but then the weapons on a lot of the other Artizan WW2 miniatures look oversized IMO. I quite like the 'chunky' look to them, and have a few hundred in my own collection, but hopefully the new miniatures will lie somewhere in between? A static HMG with wehrmacht in winter gear would be good too- and a mortar. |
