I don't understand Facebook. Too much bitty stuff scattered about randomly, mainly from other people. Everyone (well, young people)raves about it but I can't understand what it's for. Is it something to do with mobile phones?

There wasn't even a link to the Pulp Facebook page so I couldn't look at it anyway.

Don't do facebook for same reason you described above.
As far as I concerned, if a company has a website and you want me to see what's going on, create a "What's New" page.
Simple, no facebook account needed.

Exactly!

WarWizard…. and legatushedlius…

pulpfigures.com

Scroll down half the page to "Breaking news"…

And for "What's going on"..here ya go…

pulpfigures.com/work_bench

FB is more of an information source.

Legatus…if you can't understand what FB is for, well…here's some help: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook

Yes you can access it with mobile phones…

Guys, it's really not this hard…

Oh and with FB you don't "need" a link….in the search bar on top of the page you would simply type in "Pulp Figures" and it would show you the page selections for that name and you would select the one that matched…..But since you don't do FB…you wouldn't know this….

Cheers!

I suggest that you all re-classify your FB page as a company or organization that allows people to "Like" rather than "Friend" in order to follow it and get news feed updates.

Try the "for more information" link grin

I am an old fart who uses Facebook
I'd rather like than friend as I am sure you don't want to see my mad ravings.

Thanks for all the tips. I still don't understand it. It seems that every Facebook page I've looked at is full of content from other people. For example The Pulp Miniatures page has a thing on mountain biking, inspirational people and other sites that have a "similar name". What's that all about?

I think it is the result of smart phone technology being aped by the computer world. Like Windows 8. I don't want to see random tiles of stuff everywhere. I'm too old for the way technology is going as it gets further and further from replicating the printed page. I want to start at the top and read down, not have your eyes darting about over a couple of dozen things which may or may not be what you are looking for. I find blogs which are laid out like that really irritating too!

It's fine for young people who have the attention spans of a mayfly.

Those are called advertisements, and are put on the pages by facebook…..

They can be in the middle of the page, or on the sidebar.

It's fine for young people who have the attention spans of a mayfly.

Attention spans of young people have nothing to do with it, it's the presentation of the material on the site.

I just find it interesting that you say that you cannot understand it, and since you don't understand it you've decided that you don't like it, (which is natural), and that you want it to be like "The printed page" . You then say that you are irritated at the way other people lay out their blogs in "that fashion", and then you insult younger people that you think have short attention spans???

Wow…had any kids step on your lawn lately?

I don't think the problem here is with either FB, nor with "young people"….

wink

Murphy, I am familiar to going out to Bob's website and looking at new things there but when I clicked on the link for facebook that is posted with the article it asked me to join and signin so where exactly do you type the Pulp Figures because I don't remember seeing a search bar?

Bob Murch23 Apr 2014 10:50 a.m. PST

I'm new to the Facebook thing myself. Folks have been telling me to make a page for a long time now so I finally just bit the dog and did it. This doesn't mean I'll be abandoning all of my old news outlets-my Yahoo announcements page, my mailing list or the 'News' section of my web site.

I may turn it into a company page but I'm taking the current configuration for a spin for the time being. Twitter was working well for me so I thought Facebook wouldn't hurt.

And there will be occasional non-Pulp Figures stuff there since Pulp Figures is me and I'm Pulp Figures. Hence, there will be some slightly off-topic stuff like mountain biking since I like mountain biking.

If you don't like Facebook I hope you will follow some of my other news sources. I post the links here in a moment-it's hard to do from an Ipad.

Cheers,
Bob Murch

After turning 40 this past weekend, it's nice to visit some site where I'm a younger whippersnapper. I'm on Facebook far more than Twitter (let's not even try to explain Instagram or Vines to these old-timers), so the mountain biking and hopefully old pulp covers are easily tolerated.

Disco Joe23 Apr 2014 11:28 a.m. PST

Bob, as long as you keep posting it on your homepage I will keep checking it out for new figures because I do like what you make.

Bob Murch23 Apr 2014 11:45 a.m. PST

Besides my home page, here are my other news links:

My newsletter: I only use this for New Releases and other more important stuff. I don't want to get all spammy.

link

My Yahoo Announcements: I use this a little more freely than the newsletter.

link

Twitter: I post links to recipies and pictures of my turtle Gerswin. Not really but its tempting.

As long as we help making that Zucker guy richer :/ I spose. Hate advents in these formats grrr.

I have nothing against FB. For those that like it and are happy I say go for it. Others in my family use it all the time. Just does not appeal to me.
Saw the movie DIVERGENT a couple weeks ago. Was happy to see that in the future no one needed FB or a cell phone. LOL.
