Nice figures, also useful for late 19th Century warm weather Russian invasion of Afghanistan and/or British India. What is the origin of the model fortress on the cover of the Askari artillery catalogue? It is quite impressive. |

I like those – Just right to invade India! |

Hey, whose side of the Great Game are you on there? :) |

So, how do these mix with Ral Partha Colonials? |

Just right for making the Tsar's rightful claims on Mars. |

J Womack 94 said it before me :) |

They are bigger than the old Ral Partha colonials. I wouldn't mix them in a unit, but MIGHT get both on the table in different units. |

I really like Askari Miniatures, even though I`m a 20mm man really, I own loads of these figures. Ali is a terrific bloke, always interesting and pleasent to chat to. Mad Guru – the fortress in the pic is a Moroccan Kasar (Kasbah), you see then all over North Africa. I remember see photos of the build, very impressive. |

So it's a custom-built one-off, unavailable for purchase? Bummer! |

Yes, I think it was for a convention in the States. |

Yep, Al is way cool. He visited North Africa specifically to photograph and learn about Ksars so he could build the perfect model, if my memory serves me faithfully. However, MadGuru is also way cool. He builds wonderful stuff for the tabletop, and gets the details right. Then he drives thousands of miles to let other wargamers enjoy his creations. |

Thanks for the kind words, Chick! Memory does serve you right although my wife still thinks we went there just to take a cooking class
Mad Guru: the fort on the Artillery Guide cover is actually an Afghan Hill Fort I did for Historicon a few years back--much smaller than the Moroccan ksar. I did an article on building the ksar: I'll have to get that up on the new website. |

Chick – thanks for the kind words! Al – thanks for the info! I look forward to seeing the article up on your site. I thought that fort looked a lot like Chitral! It's a beautiful piece, and I can only imagine what the ksar must be like, considering what sounds like its epic size. |

Mad Guru: Yours is the second request I had for the ksar article so it is back up on the site this morning. You can find it under "Latest News" or by going to the "Terrain and Rules" category under News on the main menu. Thanks for the prompting! |
