Thanks for the link to the photos. Those are some awesome unique scuplts. Makes it very very tempting to start a 15mm fantasy project

Venusboys3> they failed here in the states because of 3 reasons; 1. the game didn't catch on. A 15mm fantasy game, based on hexes
2. Hobby Products restocking policies, they wanted a store to repurchase the entire line instead of the packs that had sold out. The same reason their other lines of miniatures failed (Space Lords etc. etc..). 3. Pack size and cost, The troop packs where a Unit that ran about $25.00 USD retail while that made sense in terms of the their game, it limited purchases for other games, especially the RPG market. Though the character/leaders packs where fairly reasonable. The 1st & 3rd reasons weren't so much the killers as the second, which killed it in most retailers eyes. The figures are beautiful. |

Missed these first timer round. 15mm was not my bag back them. I would say just dont tie yourself to one rules set even your own. 15mm players seem to like to be bit more free if you get what I mean. Play it right and a lot of old warhammer fantasy players will go 15mm. They may use GW rules but they will use your 15mm figures. As GW price people out 15mm can pick them up. |

I think 15/18mm is awesome for sci-fi, I have looked at 15/18mm Fantasy, but for some reason those are more expensive then their sci-fi counter parts (Mighty Armies). $11 USD gives me 20-22 troops at Rebel Miniatures, $33 USD 55 figures at Critical Mass Games. $25 USD for 24 troop sounds rather expensive. I have two reasons to go with 15/18mm over 30mm: 1.) Cost 2.) Size Size because it takes less room to store an army and your battlefield is almost 3-4 times bigger (2 dimensions). For sci-fi it's an excellent format because there are very few sci-fi companies doing affordable sci-fi miniatures and vehicles. The biggest issue with sci-fi is the vehicles, fantasy games don't use them in those quantities, so it's less of an issue. For fantasy it's less interesting because the 30mm market is virtually flooded, even with cheap plastic miniatures (Mantic). The human factions can easily be made up from historic figures: Empire => War of the Roses plastics, Perry miniatures (~$27 for 40 troops) Barbarians => Celtic Warriors plastics, Warlord Games (~$30 for 40 troops) |

Agree with TonyOfOccultwars. I wish this news item could be kept on the TMP home page for a few more days so everyone can read the good news! Its made my day! |

Good to hear – those were some cool miniatures. The rules had some interesting ideas, as well. Doug |

These were the figures that I was going to purchase when I became interested in 15mm fantasy a couple of years ago, and then couldn't get them. Glad to see I'll have another chance at them! |
Psycho Rabbit | 09 Jun 2011 7:30 a.m. PST |
Now get rid of them hexes and let the purchasing begin! Rabbit |

Will there be a US distributor? I'm very interested in these figures. |

As someone that played the game and actually liked the hexes, this is FANTASTIC news. Really, hexes aren't the evil that people seem to be claiming they are, they do a lot to eliminate arguments about LOS, frontage etc. Of course I also do regular non-hex gaming too, but I definitely think there's room for both. |
The Beast Rampant | 09 Jun 2011 9:21 a.m. PST |
I have to say that I never really understood the hex-thing. It may have made movement easier and flanking, etc. more cut & dry, but it just looked weird. Especially at the tactical scale. The promoted images/mounting scheme makes them all look like skirmisher swarms. Is this a large-scale skirmish game? If not, it all just looks really unappealing to me. My $0.02. Oh, and it's pretty much incompatible with any other system. But again, I am really happy to see these great minis back on the market. |

My favorite local store did carry DW back then
I wasn't interested in big battles or 15mm though. It would be temting to use these for WFB 3rd though
but I'm still lashed to the mast; resisting the siren call of 15mm

looking at the figs is like a flashback to 80s gw days haha! |
Ravenseye | 09 Jun 2011 11:04 a.m. PST |
Alrighty then! Now, we're talking! Loved these the first time around, and will love 'em again! If the packs are somewhat more reasonably priced, I am going to be all over theses
.I've gone 15mm with most, if not all, of my games
so, this will help me kick the 28's habit completely! Bring it on! -Mike |

This is probably confidential but it would be interesting to know for how much the range finally changed hands. The last asking price I remember from a few years back was about 20k – 25k euros. Which was a bit too much to buy it on a whim because I liked the figures:-) |
kenohhkc | 09 Jun 2011 1:58 p.m. PST |
Well I was lucky enough to have a bunch of them the first time around (all the elves, orcs, thain, empire) but I was missing some of the other lines. Glad they are back. We use them now for playing Commands and Colors and wrote a fantasy version, so the big units are fine with me. I don't want to buy them in 8's, when I need 40 for a unit. It will cost me more. But the market will take care of all that. We base them on 25x50 mm stands for inf and 50 x 50 mm stands for cva and war machines. Since C&C is played on hexes, didn't feel the need to use the hexes for bases. |

Commands and Colors and wrote a fantasy version
not wanting to sound like a jerk, but have you seen Battlelore? It's essentially what you describe with some neat additions. My thought was doing exactly what you describe with the Battlelore rules and Demonworld figures. |

This is probably confidential but it would be interesting to know for how much the range finally changed hands. The last asking price I remember from a few years back was about 20k – 25k euros. Repackaged properly, the figure line should be an excellent investment even at that price, especially for a company that's already set up to do large-scale casting (eg Ral partha Europe). |

This might be the release needed to get me back into 15mm gaming. |
JerryCan | 09 Jun 2011 10:57 p.m. PST |
Do they also have the range for the Demonworld Empire game? It had nice tokens of cities and other settlements for campaign gaming. |
Spacelord | 10 Jun 2011 2:27 a.m. PST |
we do indeed have the Empire game, our priority will be to get Demonowrld up and running but the Empires range will definitely be back in production. |
jpattern2 | 10 Jun 2011 8:01 a.m. PST |
Ooh, the Empires ships and settlements are perfect for Man O' War. Slightly smaller than the GW ships, but still usable, especially as new ship types. |
Malaki the Wonderer | 10 Jun 2011 10:33 a.m. PST |
I know that there are a lot of codes but as far as release's go will it be by army type? or a smattering across the races that will be released at a time? or all at once? |
Spacelord | 10 Jun 2011 11:27 a.m. PST |
Most likely we'll start with a batch of two races, (probably orc and Empire), and then with each new batch of releases add another race plus additions to the previous races. It's early days yet as we're still sorting through things, but we want to get everything available again as soon as we can manage. With over 250 codes not including Empires and adding some smaller unit packs to the range, it's going to take us a little while. cheers, Paul |
Jay Arnold | 10 Jun 2011 1:39 p.m. PST |
Ooh, loved those orcs. Sad I sold 'em. Maybe not so much now! |
DavidG | 10 Jun 2011 4:19 p.m. PST |
This is great news. It's been a shame that two great ranges vanished from the 15mm Fantasy market. The TSR Ral Partha range and these. Is it true that Ral Partha destroyed the molds of the TSR AD&D Battlesystem range when WOTC took over TSR? |
jpattern2 | 10 Jun 2011 7:35 p.m. PST |
Yes, destroyed, per the licensing agreement. You'll never see the beautiful 15mm Battlesystem minis again, outside of the secondary market. Shame, too, as they also made some things in 15mm that no one else has ever done. |
DavidG | 10 Jun 2011 11:12 p.m. PST |
With Mirliton in Italy casting the old Grenadier Warlord range, fantasy 15mm is making a come back. A group of us have asked Stefano if he can cast the dark dwarves and elves next. By the way, the demonworld dark elves look great as fantasy opponents to fantasy samurai. |
DavidG | 10 Jun 2011 11:19 p.m. PST |
I loved the large packs, you got a lot of bang for your buck and could use the figures for 15mm fantasy warhammer. |
Bunny Coleman | 11 Jun 2011 3:13 a.m. PST |
Wonderful news!! I love these minis and have a very large collection of Orcs and Goblins, also some of the 'Ishtak' range as well. I can not wait to see them out again! |

Welcome back, DemonWorld! Thanks for championing our cause, Paul, and for bringing back the rules AND figures. |
