Thanks John!

Nice looking minis. Don't care for the books at all, but the minis would be universally useful for SF gaming.

The minis are not directly affiliated with the books…and have been out there for ages.

Although without the cooperation of Old Crow, Denizen, and GZG…there wouldn't be so much eye candy :)

They look like space hobbits.

Mostly true Cloudcaptain: There are specific Old crow and GZG miniatures for the books/rules tie in but these are from the generic section from both of those manufacturers, though assembled in particular ways – the TAS vehicles being a good example (see the TAS tank link here link – though granted it's the 25/28mm versions).

Trying to leverage extant material in a new way, for those that already bought the stuff and didn't have a background to use it in, was always a significant factor when chosing both Old Crow (and even GZG*) as manufacturers for the project.

That and sculpting skills, of course

*Though, granted, GZG has always provided backgrounds for his material – Old Crow never had.

John,

Browsing the pics I noted an odd Old Crow vehicle, in pic:

GD806 APCs with towed 5cm powerguns

The GD806 APC looks like a GEV version of the 15mm Trojan light APC (http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/15trojan.htm). My Q: Was this a conversion or is Old Crow now selling this as a GEV as well as the wheeled version listed?

John Treadaway18 Nov 2010 12:56 p.m. PST

Stuuuh – the 15mm Trojan is a new vehicle. Yep, I know it's not on his web site (like one or two others* that are in production…) but, as I was ordering a fair number and asked Jez at Old Crow "Why do you do these in 28mm but not 15mm" he put them in production, good chap that he is.

So no: it's not a conversion, it's an in production vehicle. Email him if you want some would be my suggestion. The towed weapon is a slight conversion of a GZG product.

John T

*Like the 28mm enclosed body version of the Provider which, as far as I'm aware, is in production but not on his site :)

Jez is great at mixing parts up to produce different vehicle types:-)

So John how many forces do you now have in 15mm?

Cheers Matt

John,

The errata tidbits and new Power Armor cards are so tantalizing. The Southern Maryland Gamers club is playing HS Saturday night and I was planning for us to use some roll my own PA rules – I must try to locate the Miniature Wargames 331 between now and then.

Give me a private email if you have a problem with getting hold of the rules.

I currently have the Waldheims, Kevin Dallimore has the Aluadae, we've painted my mate Ivan the Broglies – all these are 2 detachment units. The TAS and UDB are both 1 detachment each

Mind you, my plans for the 15mm future (in my insanity)? Personally, I'd like to build around four forces: I wouldn't mind a detachment of Fasolini's company for a laugh (mostly decent infantry with a couple of calliope type guns that can move but on transports as well).

I would also like to do a couple of detachments of the Solace Militia/Local Militia: 25 untrained infantry, 7 trained infantry, 10 Aircars and air-trucks, four with deployable static Calliopes and a charismatic leader (mind you, they could only really fight defensively… where would you get the LPs to move that lot). That'd be a different game and GZG do some nice civilian types in 15mm.

Lastly, I'd like to do a detachment or two of either (or both) of the Eaglewing Squadron and the Anders Legion. I've found a 15mm jet bike for the latter that I'm reasonably happy with 15mm.co.uk/207.htm (awful picture but I've seen a bare one and it looks ok) and some infantry that'd work. Can't do the tracked Gecko's until Old Crow makes some in 15mm but I don't have to use 'em – just tracked tanks, tank destroyers and half tracks. So they'd be quite a lot of fun.

The Eaglewing would be quite easy (same source for the jetbikes) but the cost of the flyers, even in 15mm, means that the two detachments won't leave me much change from a ton (£7.50 each for the ten flyers is seventy five quid, plus a couple of slingshots and jet bikes…). Still, I can build up to that, maybe…

So – I want to field as many forces as possible in both scales. Oh – and in 6mm when Old Crow eventually gets them cast…

But then I'm barmy…
