Yes, we're getting close to the point where miniatures may be a matter of purchasing and modifying/customizing a computer file, then printing out as many as one needs to get the job done…

This won't eliminate the traditional sculpting and casting industry IMHO, as there will be plenty of us chickens who will want a blend of both traditional and 3D printed models and figures, perhaps even a mix of both where a basic figure is made traditionally, and the add-on gear, weapons, etc. are available from the same source as 3D print files…

I can see where this would be useful for things like "meat n' potatoes" subjects like T-34 or M4 Sherman tanks, levy spearmen from a given period where they're needed in the several hundreds, terrain pieces like what Menhir is bringing here, or starship minis.

Gettin' more interestin' by the day….

What does one need to be able to "print" these?

I'm still waiting on my overdue Viking village these guys are supposed to produce for a kickstarter. It was supposed to deliver last July, latest estimates are the end of this year if nothing else goes wrong
