Willie!

Ok, that tears it. I need it. grin

Binky the Wonder Pig07 Jun 2012 4:41 p.m. PST

Can I smack him?

Binky says "OINK"

kyoteblue07 Jun 2012 4:42 p.m. PST

This will be the first BF model I've bought in more than a year….

Next, we need Eisenhower and his female driver… evil grin

Spreewaldgurken07 Jun 2012 6:04 p.m. PST

I hear that if you buy more than $500 USD in a single order, you get the bonus diorama set of him urinating over the bridge.

Well, I would not pay for that one (how many Pattons do you need?), but if it's FREE!!! I could certainly cough up $500 USD for other stuff.

BTW, did Patton really ride around in an M20, and not a jeep?

79thPA Supporting Member of TMP07 Jun 2012 7:04 p.m. PST

John:

Yes, he did. That's not to say you would never see him in a jeep, but he did have a command car.

So with all the special characters and rules, looking more & more like a GW game…

jdginaz07 Jun 2012 9:34 p.m. PST

The miniature looks ridiculous, the real leather leggings only came up to the top of the calf those go all the way up to mid thigh. They look like some kind of leather casts, it would be imposable to knell down it them.

Very useful in a company-level game.

Patton's image is protected by copyrights and trademarks, etc. A number of toy soldier company's e.g. King & Country and The Collectors Showcase have had to "pay up." Get out your wallet mate.

Derek H08 Jun 2012 1:59 a.m. PST

Why is that man wearing a helmet to paint miniatures?

Health & Safety gone mad?

tberry740308 Jun 2012 2:47 a.m. PST

Very useful in a company-level game.

You could have him directing traffic. grin

Pete--I was thinking the same thing. When you've got an army level commander in a company level games, things have gone horribly wrong for you.

Jurgen--That's a point I hadn't thought about.

VonBurge08 Jun 2012 5:44 a.m. PST

I've not let the General/Hero thing in games bother me too much. I just assume it's actually a lower level command with the same character traits and leadership stye as the "Big Guy." I have a lot easier time visualizing it as a kick-ass CPT John Doe than our boy George.

Other than that it's just a different model for the collection.

Cheers,
VB

It is about damned time. Best fighting general of the whole damned war. Only took ten years. Sheesh!

I bet that stirs the pot. popcorn

All the Patton special rules would have been perfect for the way he ran the 1st Provisional Tank Brigade at the Meuse-Argonne in the Great War.

I hope the compilation includes a special rule for the Patton Saber.

VonBurge08 Jun 2012 8:33 a.m. PST

Certainly he'd be a cool addition to FoW WWI!

Ok, that tears it. I need it.

I already picked one up, breaking my no new minis moritorium.

Can you just picture him standing on the deck of an FT-17, behnd the turret, like Ben Hur? I bet HIS tank would have scythes on it.

Who makes a Great War American officer with a riding crop to bang on the hatch?
I think he should have a helmet, though.

Saginaw08 Jun 2012 9:38 a.m. PST

This pic of Patton, wearing his design for a Tank Corps uniform, would be nice to see as a miniature. In the meantime, you good people at Battlefront Miniatures are really tempting me to purchase one (or two) of these! grin

john lacour08 Jun 2012 11:15 a.m. PST

thats so funny! just the other night, i was telling my wife about my great uncle hank, who was in pattons army. he took a picture of patton Bleeped texting in the rhine. he showed it to me when i was young. and its bought up here on TMP! thats so funny!

MahanMan08 Jun 2012 11:17 a.m. PST

That pic of Patton in his custom uniform always makes me laugh; he's straight out of a '30s Flash Gordon serial!

(I make fun of others)08 Jun 2012 1:17 p.m. PST

That's brilliant! A real win for Battlefront.

PilGrim08 Jun 2012 1:52 p.m. PST

Barrel, scrape, bottom

FCS come on BF. If this is the level you have stooped to to sell a few blisters the wheels really have come off the wagon.

What's next – John Wayne special? How about an "Objective Burma" Special pack with Errol Flynn. About as relevant and accurate as this release.

They did Rommel and Monty. Why not Patton?

Gear Pilot08 Jun 2012 3:37 p.m. PST

And I agree with the OFM, Willie is the big seller for me. ;)

He looks like a no-nonsense referee at an American football game.

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP09 Jun 2012 5:53 a.m. PST

I had heard about that uniform, but words do not do it justice.

jgawne09 Jun 2012 7:38 a.m. PST

Patton's image is protected by the Patton family as they were sick and tiored of so many people putting his face on a t shirt with some silly saying. Every dime they collect in royalties goes to the Patton Museum. They are not in it for the money. This has been mentioned here many times before so it should nto come as a surprise ot any figure makers.

They are also willing to work with someone if it is for a good cause, but they have a pretty damn tough lawyer who WILL come after you.

optional field09 Jun 2012 12:07 p.m. PST

I would think Audie Murphy, even if less well known, would be a suitable figure for a company level game with "heroes," but Patton?

GW is so pulpy I can accept a general in a platoon level game but Fow? That's just silly.

Royal Marine14 Jun 2012 3:34 a.m. PST

Maybe that could Team him up with Kelly in the Bank job scenario? Perfect for a 26 star Army Commander in a Company Level Game. When are Emperor Ming being released and Flash Gordon?
