Just downloaded it, and it looks great! Can't wait to give it a go. Well done! |

Interesting, what is the smallest element used in the game? Individual vehicle/squad/platoon/company? Looks cool, any play-test reviews or AAR's yet? EDIT: does the tablet version work with the "Kindle Fire"? |

I got em. Look pretty good. The author's website has army lists and battle reports. vislardica.com I do wonder how the rules will handle horde creature armies like arachnids, ALIENS and so on. I haven't found anything in the rules yet. I can't wait to try them out. Been waiting for them since Get yer Tentacle first came out! Thanks, John |

Same ball-park as 'Gruntz'. Generic 15mm sets have been around for donkeys. |

Is this meant for individually based figures or multi-based? |
John Leahy | 14 Dec 2012 9:58 p.m. PST |
Like IABSM you can use individually based figs. But stands would also work. I own GRUNTZ. Solid set of rules. However, it isn't in the same ballpark as Quadrant 13. The intro to Quadrant even says that unless you are using a couple of platoons to a Company per side you won't get the most out of the rules. Gruntz is certainly NOT a Company level set of rules. Nice set. But set at Platoon level. Thanks, John |

Does Quadrant 13 use blinds? I'm not familiar with TFL games, so can anyone explain how those are used in actual play? |

I was just tinkering with Mud and Blood for Kryomek hordes games -I wonder if this is the answer, although I note the comments about horde armies. Does anyone know if there will be a hard copy |

Hi darthfozzywig Just as in IABSM and CDS, Blind are used for hidden movement. At the beginning of each game, it's usual to have several of your units under Blinds. These are markers that indicate to your opponent that there's "something" there, but not what it is. Blinds get various bonuses for movement, and can't shoot or be shot at until deployed or spotted. Once deployed or spotted, a Blind is removed from play and the troops it represents actually put down on the table. On top of Blinds, each side usually gets some Dummy or False Blinds too. These represent small parties of scouts, the nervous imaginings of the enemy's troops etc. When they are spotted, they just get removed from the table. Some troops can go back under Blinds if they move out of eyesight: they actually go back under two Blinds, one real one False, so your opponent doesn't know which is which. If you look at some of the AARs on the Vis Lardica site, you'll see oval or square markers, usually with an army symbol on them, in the photos. These are Blinds. Hope that helps R |

Hi Mashrewba Hoardes of aliens are treated just like infantry i.e. divided into 'squads' and 'platoons' and activated on the appropriate cards. They just don't necessarily have any guns. If the cards you have (unit, Charge, Big Man, bonus move etc) don't give you the effect you want, you can use the chrome rules to tweak the rules for specific hoardes. So you might say that if the Big Man (hive mind, brain bug, handler
whatever) is killed, then the hoardes under his command lose their next couple of activations Or you might give the hoarde pre-set 'orders' and priority lists i.e. "Arachnid squads always head straight for the enemy units at maximum speed, ignoring cover opportunities, and attempt to enter close combat with them. Due to the way their 'vision' works, they will prioritise heading for any troops wearing red." Hope that helps R |

I might bite. I've heard good things about the Lardies and their games although I've never played any of them. 12 quid isn't bad for a rules set either. I might bite. |

At the shop I play at,we're Lardy enthusiasts, playing IABSM and Sharpe Practice. So this would not be a hard sell at all.Blinds are fun, especially when they arent what you thought they were! |

Jamesonsafari, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who uses that mantra! I'm also glad to know that it works about as well for you as it does for me
. Well, everything I have is 15mm, so I at least pass the "no new scale" test. BWW |

I think that "comments to hard copy" number will only get higher with each passing month. :) |
