Maybe it's the group of friends I play with but I've never had an argument over LOS or seen the need for one of these.

The last slice of cake though is a different matter!

Do folk actually need or use these?

I only have time to play a handful of games in a year these days, and I always play with my brother. We haven't fought over a rule or LOS in decades, but he gave me one of these for Christmas.

We'll use it in our "Fallout: Wasteland Warfare" or "Mars Attacks!" games because it just looks cool to paint a figure with a laser. I use it in 12mm armor games because it is easier than having me crouch down over the table. And because it just looks cool to paint a tank with a laser.

I wonder what the difference is between the two models shown?

The top one paints a line on the table top.
The bottom one is a standard laser pointer that just paints a dot on the target.

I game with some guys who use them on a regular basis. They can come in handy.
