This piece of scenery looks very good! Been wanting to make something like this, yet this is now tempting to buy
lol. |

Looks great, not my period, but wow. |
Schogun | 06 Mar 2012 8:46 a.m. PST |
Very nice, but £130.00 GBP / $205 USD |
Disco Joe | 06 Mar 2012 8:53 a.m. PST |
That does look great and can be used for a number of different eras. As for the cost Schogun that is if you get the figures with it. If you are interested only in the fort itself it is around $142 USD. |

Ooooh. Pity gaming dollars are tied up right now in a different project! |

Beautiful piece of work, but
I think that forts and siege works highlight even more than anything else the clash between figure scale and terrrain scale. Look at the corner section. A gun and its crew can barely fit in it. Sadly, to put on a game that "looks right", you will need 6mm figures, and a "fort" at least three times the length. |
klingsor | 06 Mar 2012 11:31 a.m. PST |
I fear you are correct. I love my 28mm figures but they are really only suited to skirmish gaming, for big battles I would turn to 6mm. It is nice looking though. |
GamesPoet | 06 Mar 2012 11:34 a.m. PST |
Don't be so sad. Its all relative. If a person is into completely true scale gaming, then this isn't for them. Beyond that it could work in other types of situations. |

@flankmonkey Don't worry about it being overseas – it ships free of charge worldwide! Same applies for any orders over £50.00 GBP

Don't be so certain of the terrain scale not working, take a peek at some of the early colonial forts – some were very small, and these were the more prominent sites. I imagine that some were not much more than block houses or small stockades topping earthen walls. Fort Raleigh (1587):
James Fort (1607):
New Amsterdam (1660):

'Tis a sconce, a prominent part of many ECW/TYW defense systems. I remember visiting the site of one overlooking Worchester that played a role in that battle. Very nice and the price is not too bad to be already painted. |
Cheriton | 06 Mar 2012 2:23 p.m. PST |
pick up this fully painted earthwork before we sell out Is there a fully "unpainted" price as well? You fellows are going to have to let up on us a bit, nearly every day it seems there are new temptations being sprinkled about for wargamers' thirsts. Keep them coming

If a person is into completely true scale gaming, then this isn't for them ----------------- agreed – but then personally Uncle Ben's (as we refer to 6mm in my group) doesn't particulalry appeal -its horses for courses – and even a lot of 6mm units are still representational rather than true scale in terms of figure numbers |
MajorB | 06 Mar 2012 3:41 p.m. PST |
Very nice, but £130.00 GBP GBP / $205.00 USD USD It's only that price if you get it with the 4 sakers and crews. The star fort on it's own is only £90.00 GBP |
Cheriton | 06 Mar 2012 3:53 p.m. PST |
The star fort on it's own is only £90.00 GBP GBP And, I hope understand correctly, £81.00 GBP (and post-free as well???) to those of us members (10% discount) of The Society of Ancients? |

agreed – but then personally Uncle Ben's (as we refer to 6mm in my group) doesn't particulalry appeal -its horses for courses – and even a lot of 6mm units are still representational rather than true scale in terms of figure numbers I have no experience with 6mm, use 28mm instead, and mostly representationally, although some skirmish games are 1 for 1. As mentioned in the second post of this thread, this is tempting to buy. |

The Fort Raleigh recreation on Roanoke Island scales out on par with than this: link Having visited this site a few years back, I thought how alone the colonists must have felt with only this tiny fort as their refuge. I plan to order one of these soon to give my ECW lads and other exploring lads a hand. Lost Pict |

Eureka makes Powhatan indians which appear to be based on the woodcuts or drawings of John White of the Roanoke Indians. With these and this star fort, you could resolve th mystery of the lost colony or at least on version. Fort Raleigh is a little piece of England lost in America. Lost Pict PS – Just ordered my Fully Operational Death Star with free shipping and no VAT, this is a great deal for US customers. My Covenanters cannot wait! |
