Really Nice. I see some indians in my future. |

Those are mighty fine! Norsemen vs Skraelings! (I love the word "Skraeling.) I wonder if some of these Indians could be used for King Phillip's War? |

Why not? I can't see Woodland Indian fashion changing all that much in 600 years. 🙄🤷 But that might be a bit … By that token, I would not have to think twice about salting in KPW Indians to this conflict, as well as any Woodland Indians who aren't carrying muskets. I'm not pimping other manufacturers. I'm just suggesting what fits in. |

Piper909, my initial plan had been to work the opposite direction: use F & IW Indians as Skraelings to fight my Vikings. However, somebody brought out "official" Skraelings before I could find appropriate figures. One thing I'd love to see added to the line is the Skraeling catapult, probably a variant on the idea of a staff sling. I haven't quite come to terms with this: my ideas work out to be too much like a modern crew served light weapon, like an LMG or light mortar, with one man carrying the catapult/staff and a second carrying the ammunition. I think I recall reading that something similar was still used by New England natives when the first colonists arrived, so even that could be used in fights in colonial America. Grelber |

The Native Americans at the time would not have metal tools nor weapons. They would have stone age technology at best. |

@tonantius: The natives with clubs all have stone or wood clubs. The knife is assumed as trade goods (and the native looter pack has a figure gathering up swords noting how valuable that would be). The spear tips and arrows are a painting decision and no reason to not paint them stone, bone or whatever. |

@grebler: That is an interesting take on the Skraeling catapult and I do not disagree. From the east to the mid East to the great lakes, there were forms of Lacrosse played for 1000+ years and that is in essence a staff sling with each tribe having its own variant of the stick and "net." |

I'm always reminded of this evocative painting from a National Geographic book about the Vikings:
