I like the big red guy – is he available in their usual scale? |
Hasslefriesian | 09 Oct 2005 8:39 a.m. PST |
Yes. He's a Razide, although he doesn't look as bulky as I remember them to be. I made one version of the 28mm scale ones and Kev Adams (IIRC) did another. |

That's actually quite nice. Why on earth didn't they devote the energy, money and skill wasted on these large scale figures into the actual miniatures for the game? |
Prophet | 09 Oct 2005 9:57 a.m. PST |
They're 10 inches tall with the same level of detail as a 28mm figure. Not a good combo. |

Uhm
is it just me, or does that creature's head look remarkably like DC's Swamp Thing? |
Metallion | 09 Oct 2005 12:23 p.m. PST |
That's the first thing I thought as well when I saw the picture. Swamp Thing! |

"Why on earth didn't they devote the energy, money and skill wasted on these large scale figures into the actual miniatures for the game?" An excellent question. It's just another set back for this good gaming system. I'll die before Chronopia and Warzone are complete. |
Bedoggey | 09 Oct 2005 1:39 p.m. PST |
Why, you ask? Because Excelsior hasn't a clue on how to support a game system
games are a transitory thing
one is released only to be replaced by something better or more inovative
Chronopia and WZ are in thier deaththroes
the release of these latex figures are like a cadaver sitting up in a morgue
an involuntary motor response making you think it has a semblance of life. You must continually infuse your game with new content or it will die. |

I'm not a big fan of meat guns, but that looks pretty cool. |
mmitchell | 09 Oct 2005 4:29 p.m. PST |
The face reminds me of DC Comics' Swamp Thing. |

The biggest prob with EE is that it's run by a gamer not a businessman. Let the game work on the games
let teh "better heads" deal with the business |

I like the sculpt. I didn't realize they had other statues. I've seen a great overscale game of SpaceHulk using 9-12" models and just had a thought that these large Warzone models could be used for a large scale game of Siege of the Citadel. Doomtroopers could be made using modified large GI Joe figures. I own the 28mm scale oop game but have never had a chance to play. |

Maybe they need some cash flow so they can satisfy the impossible demands of gamers. |
eyesweldedopen | 09 Oct 2005 10:04 p.m. PST |
Actually goldwyrm, the guy who did those space hulk models, is the one doing these statues. And yes, he is planning on running an oversized siege game. :-) As for Excelsior wasting their time and energy comments, I can almost guarantee you that they are making little or no money off of these things. I know they were originally planned to just be statues for torneys and prizes, but I guess they thought it would be cool for the die hard collectors if they could buy one. I'm fairly certain that these are also done off site (the sculptor has the latex studio), so I imagine that almost no in house resources go into the statues, aside from shipping them to you. FYI, the razide was a deviation piece of artwork done by Dave Allsop (SLA Industries) based off of the original piece by Paul Bonner. If I can find a pic of it, I'll try and post it! |
nvdoyle | 09 Oct 2005 10:47 p.m. PST |
Razides, huh? Might have to place an order
|
Acharnement | 09 Oct 2005 10:49 p.m. PST |
Yeah, I recall Paul Bonner did a lot of the stunning original artwork including the Razide. Credit where credit is due. |
Giddoen | 09 Oct 2005 10:53 p.m. PST |
Yeah well the sculpt is nice and all but how about getting back to the business of running a game company and make some new friggin mini's and some support for the game! Giddoen |

I'm not happy. EE releases like a small bunch of things once a year, and instead of fleshing out the armies (like the specialists) or printing supplements (like the campagain book), we get figures we can't use. How about some rescuplts on the Venusian Rangers or some vehicles for crying out loud? Excelsior Entertainment: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! |
Goldwyrm | 10 Oct 2005 9:20 a.m. PST |
Eyesweldedopen, thanks. I had a suspicion that they were related. A large SotC convention game should be fun. I'm sure I'll be able to see it at some future con in NJ. |

I am supposed to be sculpting them but Armorcast non-sculpting stuff keeps eating up my time. Hope to be back to sculpting the WarZone vehicles starting in November. Tim Armorcast |
