The Question: Is it 'better' to Dump my 15mm to continue buying into 10mm, or should I hold onto my 15mm 15mm as it is (generally speaking) the more popular scale
? OK-The Problem: I have Several WarMaster armies (painted and Unpainted), and I enjoy Warmaster immensely, and I have at least two somewhat regular opponents- I also have a -ton- of 15mm All Unpainted (some primed; Mostly DemonWorld, some of Mongoose's Mighty Armies). I -might- be able to play HoTT with at some point in the indeterminant future, (More likely Armies of Arcana: don't like HoTT much, but have not played AoA, tho- it looks "fun")
. Of course: DemonWorld 15mm is -really- ,_REALLY_ Nice Stuff
and OOP now (so if I get rid of it, it is essentially irreplaceable!)
Obviously, no answer is "right" or "wrong", but I solicit any and all opinions: What would _you_ do

I would dump the 15s and do the 10s if I weren't going to keep both. But if I don't have to choose, and I don't, I would do both. The advantage in 10s over 15's is that you can get a much more mass effect with 10's and they are not much more fiddly than 15's. So I can usually stick about 12-16 guys on a 20x40mm base in 10mm but only about 6 15mm figs on the same base, and they look pretty crammed in there. Usually 4 is better. Well that is only 2x as many as you would get on the base with even the largest 28mm figs typically. So the effect isn't as impressive on the eyes. With 6's you can get more but they are much more fiddly than 10's or 15's. |

*I* would keep both, and also start 28mm, 20mm, 6mm, and 2mm versions of the same armies. But that's just me

If I had a pile of Demonworld, as it sounds like you do, then I would hang on to them; like you said, they are beautiful miniatures. And, who knows where your interests may turn in the future

Keep all your stuff! It dosen't hurt minis to be put-into-storage in a closet or where ever; at some point in the future you'll be glad you hung on to this or that mini! |

I think that 15mm is a great scale for mass skirmish games (like Warhammer Fantasy or Sword and the Flame) where you might have 100+ figures on a side but base and fight as individuals. In fact, there's a fantasy version of TSatF in the works. I'd build 10mm, but hang onto the 15mm stuff (unless the Demonworld stuff reaches collectors prices, then Sell! Sell! Sell!) |

Dear White Elk, You really should send all of your 15mm fantasy minis to me They'd have a most loving home and I would dress them with selected layers of paint
Seriously, store them to avoid later regret; Oh why, oh why did I send all my beatiful and OOP minis to JtFB

Unless space is a problem keep both. For me, the dilemna would be which to spend my painting time on. |

I game Warmaster Ancients with 15mm. |
| jupe1955 | 25 Jan 2007 7:01 a.m. PST |
Store the 15mm and play with the 10mm. Unpainted 15mm should not be a storage problem and you may want to get into it later. |

Keep both and I can tell you that if you decide to go with AoA you'll have a blast ! |

Part with nothing. Tastes change, and anyway at the very worst you already have your 10mm giant army. |

Keep both! No real reason to sell any! |

If you like the Warmaster game so much, why aren't you basing your 15mm so that you can play it in 15mm, just like demigamer mentioned? |
| Boone Doggle | 25 Jan 2007 6:39 p.m. PST |
Obviously both given the option. If not
I still prefer 15mm for fantasy, the range is still much better than 10mm. Plus I have no problem using many of the 10mm creatures for my 15mm armies. Wolves and Lizardmen I find particularly useful. We play Warmaster exclusively in 15mm and DBx basing. No problems at all. Plus if you have a ton of Demonworld you are going to have a real tough time replacing them with comparable 10mms. |

So: twelve out of fourteen vote to keep, hands down, One quasi-abstention (prefers to keep, but will sell the unused if needs be), and only -one- vote to rid myself of (presently) useless clutter with high re-sale value (but only if it is freely gifted to the voter
that FB!!)
I love youse guys!!! You put the 'Rational' in rationaization

At your service. But at least I'm honest. |
| jupe1955 | 26 Jan 2007 3:42 a.m. PST |
The question is: will the money you make selling them and the benefit of not having to store them equal the money you will need to replace them if you get back into 15mm? Most of the store it votes come from people who have replaced something they gave away or sold off. |

Okay: I've been meditating on the subject, and I think I can frame the situation more clearly (ones motivations are often hidden from oneself!) referring to this thread: TMP link I would -really- like to get a WM Araby army, but I simply don't see having the Fundage to pay GW prices in the next six months or so. I think part of my brain believed it might be possible to Fund such an endeavor by selling off my Demonworld stash
. but that means, off course, likely never having the chance to paint that stuff (as everyone has kindly pointed out) Man! I wish I knew someone who played HoTT or armies of Arcana so I could sort my Demonworld stuff into reasonable Armies!!!! (I know I'll never play Demonworld rules, although 'Empires' looked like it might have been fun
)
JohnnieTFB-> If you would actually Paint them, I'm tempted to send you some just for making me Laugh so hard! |
| Johnnie the Foreign Bugger | 27 Jan 2007 10:24 a.m. PST |
Well, I haven't bought lead in some time as I'm trying to get something painted
Not any kind of pledge or anything, but self imposed restriction on *buying* more until, at least one project is finished! |

Keep them all! I understand the need to standardize to play with your friends. But unless you can trade the 15's for 10mm that you really like now, years from now you may very well kick yourself. I have to admit I like warmaster, too, for a very fast set of rules, but it can be adapted easily to different scales and bases as long as you are consistent. Don't limit yourself to GWs required basing; base as you like and use the (modified) rules you want. Individually based figures on magnetic bases can be grouped as you like and provide flexibility for your future gaming needs. In the end, you will value the miniatures more than the money you could have made by selling them no matter the scale (assuming you have enough food on the table
