Did the Russian Hussars have lances in the front Ranks of all Sqdrs? Or was there one Sqdrs that was completly Armed with the Lance ? |

All my references imply the entire regiment, but in the back of my mind I remember "one squadron only." I think there was an article from either the Russian mag Orel or Zeughaus that specified this, but I no longer have a copy. Regardless, Minifigs actually used to make a figure for this in 15 mm. IIRC – it was only the front rank of the 1st Squadron that carried the lance. But it has been quite a while since I read anything on them. |

GeorgethePug, The Osprey on Russian Cavalry says "Lances were carried in 1812, probably by the front rank of squadrons, although whether they were a universal issue is unknown. They also have a plate F1 picture of a Pavlograd Hussar 1812 with lance. The description says; "Lances were carried by some Hussars: at Borodino, for example, the Akhtyrka were noted for being especially proficient witht he weapons against the Saxon Cavalry in the fight around Semenovskaya. We have AB Russian Hussar Lancers in 18mm, both lance at rest & charging. Rob Eureka Miniatures USA |

And, with regard to miniature figures, any Russian Hussar with a lance should be wearing either dolman or pelisse (or, at least, without the pelisse hanging from the shoulder), according to 1812 Regulations. The Minifigs 15mm Russian Hussar with lance was correctly represented in Campaign Dress (only I was stupid enough to buy sufficient Command sets – with standard bearer, you see – to allow a couple of regiments in Full Dress but armed with lances). |
