James,
Actually I don't now and never have had a reason to hide my hobby from my wife or anyone else. It is simply my opinion that pictures of school girls (of any nationality) have no relation to wargaming, no matter how far you stretch the definition.
I imagine Wells, Stevenson, Grant and Young spinning in their graves, and Featherstone just shaking his head.

Well I only meet Don a few times and he did have an eye for the ladies. But that is another story….

Whoah there, Rogcollectibles:

"BTW the question about what a 30 year old man is imagining during these games is none of your damn business at the very least… No, folks it doesnt matter what the old man is thinking, if he is a pervert in his own mind, I think thats part of what freedom is about… Stay out of peoples minds, its not 1984. Or have we forgotten already.
Ever heard of the thought police.
"

I think you seriously missed the context of what I was asking, and probably I didn't explain it well either. Sometimes online messages like this don't convey to a stranger what we thought we typed ever-so-clearly at the time…

My question was entirely in the context of the paragraph I wrote before it. Namely, that I understand one playing Napoleonics (for example,) and thinking of oneself as a general, or the Emperor, or whatever. What I don't understand is what does one "imagine" one is within the context of the Japanese schoolgirls "game"?

What I meant is this: is the player (and/or the others in the gaming group) taking on the role of a teenage schoolgirl? Taking on the role of a teenage boy at the school of said schoolgirls? Taking on the role of "bad guys" attacking said schoolgirls? How exactly does it "work"???

It was not an attempt to accuse anyone of deviant thoughts, or to try to get into people's minds!! Rather, it was a question about the basics of what one "does" in the context of such a "game". I fundamentally don't understand the concept of "gaming" this. Hence the question.

Hope that's clearer (sorry; but I just hate to be misunderstood like that!).

"1. You do not hide your hobby well"

Why do we need to hide our hobby? You may be ashamed of your hobby and need to hide it in some dark corner of your house, but others don't. I'm happy that my hobby is on show in my house as visitors always talk about my "little soldiers" and ask who/what/where/when questions about them.

"2. She does not trust you, which leads to other issues"

I fail to see why you say this when there's no indication of any problems between Nick and his wife. Seems to me that you are stirring things up for some malicious reason and need to stop.

"3. You have some "issues" that YOU need to address not her."

The only person that has issues is you. Grow up and stop being such an idiot.

I'll restate this, which I posted on another thread:

My 17yo reads a number of manga series, such as "Bleach" and "From Far Away". She's picked up the habit from her girlfirends, and they loan series to each other. Yesterday, I was explaining the TMP schoolgirl uniform controversy to her, and she thought it pretty creepy that a bunch of the people she typically sees at game conventions would have any interest in the subject whatsoever.

She's also quite aware of the *other* Japanese media products involving schoolgirls, byt the way. Some of you seem not to be.

I think Allen's post sums this up perfectly.

What a load of Bleeped text.
You don't have to open up the pictures, if you don't want to look.
