I'm sure there are a few of you who have pondered on what to do with all those spare arms and heads that we all seem to eventually collect. Having extra bodies would be nice, but sometimes they can be quite scarce. As for sculpting, not everyone is up to it, or feel that they don't have the skills. Well, a few weeks ago*, I had to do a web tutorial for my web design classes. Since I was facing the same problem as above, I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I figured that the easiest way to sculpt bodies was to sculpt robed figures (no messing around trying to get the legs right!) link *I would have posted this sooner, but I hadn't written down the right url for home. Hence I'm doing this from campus. ** Also, the form doesn't work. Fill it out if you wish, but it won't be sent anywhere. |

Jakar, Could you provide a working link. I am really curious about the tutorial. Thanks. CC |

There is something missing from the beginning of the string, a .com, .edu, or something but none of the regular things work. Rich |

Hmm. Maybe it can't be viewed off the campus server. I'm going to look into this

Yeah

Ok, so the problem was this: it was uploaded to a closed on-campus server. Basically, it isn't possible to gain access unless one is using a couple of client programs. My inocence has been shattered. Anyways, I've transfered and uploaded the conversion article onto Displaced Miniatures. Unfortunately (for me, at least), I had to chop off the CSS file and the layout I was so proud of. This time, you should be able to view it: link |

Say, those are nice! Stylewise, they're almost cooler than "plain" Kroot. The only thing I'd have done different, is make the robes bunch up a little where they meet the ground. |

Great idea! I'm going to have to remember to try that. Thanks. |

What a great use for all those extra heads and arms I have. Now I will be able to almost double the number of some of my plastic troops. If I ever get time that is. Thanks for that tip. |

Very cool, VERY useful. I have a lot of spare Skaven and Kroot heads and arms kicking around just waiting for something like this! Just a suggestion, but to make the figures look a little more "dynamic", maybe the next level would be to sculpt some shape to the robes and have feet or tails sticking out of the robes? |

And another great thing that you've done but not mentioned – adding some of the ammo packs and other greeblies that come on the sprues adds a lot of life to the simple robes. |

Man, why do people always use a colour of font that can't be read because of the clash with the background? I suppose that might have been interesting if I could have read it without getting a headache . . . |

"Man, why do people always use a colour of font that can't be read because of the clash with the background?" Fixed it. From what I see, the user's CSS options tend to overide, giving out colour clashes. |

That's
really freaking brilliant. No idea why it never occurred to me before. Thanks for a great idea, I'm off to raid my bits box for zombie parts! |

"Fixed it. From what I see, the user's CSS options tend to overide, giving out colour clashes." I thank you sir! Now its an enjoyable read and thanks for sharing. Hope it doesn't sound negative, because it's not intended to be, but I think you could have been a little bit more adventurous with the robes and had them flow a little more perhaps and as somebody else commented, had a foot or two showing at the bottom of some. |
