Has anyone considered buying these and bringing it back into production? I see by some of the posts that TMPer's still gobble it up when they see it on e-bay.

Would it be cost prohibitive in today's hobby environment or are too many other things available to make it viable?

Last that I heard (hearsay, mind you) was that KR was holding onto the trade secrets/patents/technology until he was ready to return to the market.

A copy of the patent is fairly easy to obtain. I ordered a copy about 10-12 years ago. I remember thinking that some of the statements contained in it could be contested.

If it's a design patent, it's probably expired by now.

IIRC correctly the paten lapsed (was not renewed)@ 2-3 years ago.

They patented hexes?

Not the hexes, the shapes that configure the slopes.

I wasn't too clear. I meant for purposes of manufacturing the line again.

You could try asking Will at Monday Knight Productions in regards to the re-manufacture of Geo Hex.
I know that both Will and KR have had various discussions in related areas but I don't know if they have talked about a specific re-release, although it wouldn't surprise me.

"Ray In Calgary" has provided the best advice. MKP should be able to get in touch with KR rather easily. I could be wrong, but I do not think KR would have let his patent expire, if he could renew it.

I don't think you can renew design patents.
