Yes, G&G was extremely disappointing. Especially since it was made by the same guy (Ted Turner) who did a pretty good job (best Hollywood ever did, anyway) with Gettysburg. The guy who played Stonewall (same guy who played Pickett in Gettysburg) was good, but they skipped over the most interesting parts of Stonewall's career (Valley Campaign and Chancellorsville), to spend hours (well it seemed like) showing (with lousing special effects) the slaughter in front of the stone wall at Fredericksburg! Also was entirely too pro-Confederate for this Yankee!

lousing = lousy.

Still hate that G&G cut out Antietam, and left in that Shirley Temple wanna be.

Stephen Lang was very good as Pickett in Gettysburg; one of the best performances in the movie, yet he played Jackson as if he was made of wood.

I got ‘Gods and Generals' as part of a boxed set when I wanted to replace my VHS version of ‘Gettysburg'. So from that point of view it was kind of a freebie! (Well, as a pair they were cheap)

OK, the acting is a bit naff and the characterization of Jackson is awful but Chancellorsville aside, I thought the action sequences quite good. Just a shame there was a lot of film in between them!
