In the 1980s UK figure maker Phoenix Models produced wonderful, sexy 54mm figures of fantasy femme fatales, many of which I've recently seen on display in some old UK miniatures mags. Are these still in production anywhere? Do they come up for resale often? Do they appear on ebay, and if so, how easily "searchable" are they? (I.e., is the keyword "Phoenix Models" or something fairly definitive?) So far, I haven't had any luck in tracking down any of these and there are a few I'd love to paint up as Giant Amazons for gaming or just have as display figures (pun intentional). |

My local store here in Ligonier carries some of those. If you are after some you might give him a call, the number is 724-238-0324. It's the toy soldier gallery. Norm is the name of the owner. |

That's a fast response! Thanks, I'll do this on the weekend, when I can call long distance during the day. I wonder if we can establish what the figures are like via a telephone conversation? I have a few particular figures in mind, but I don't have catalog numbers or "names", I'm working from photos in ads, mainly. |

There were two lines "Phoenix Phollies" and "Phoenix Phantasy." The former is the range of cheesecake fantasy girls or those in psuedo-historical garb, while the latter was nominally themed around Atlantis. I found boatloads of pictures by googling "Phoenix Phollies" Wyatt |

Note also that the Phoenix Atlantis minis were 54mm, while the Phoenix Phantasy and Phoenix Phollies sexy sculpts were 80mm, not 54mm. |

Further, I think some of the Atlantis figures were also 80mm, but the bulk of them were 54mm. |

I think the Sanderson Pirates of Tortuga are available through Hobby Bunker in Malden MA. Yep. link If I was going to buy them, I'd go there for the cheaper price but here's a site that has some good reference pics. link Again MAY NOT BE WORK FRIENDLY |

The pics on that link from fonzie has some amazing paintjobs – the way the robe has been made translucent on the cleopatra figure is awesome! |

Phoenix went out of business (retired) a couple of years ago. If I remember rightly the moulds were sold off to various individuals with certainly the railway figures going to S&D Models (www.sanddmodels.co.uk). They might be able to throw more light on the fate of the others. |

Metal Modeles (France) has the rights to the Phoenix Follies now. This comes from the Metal Modeles website: " Métal Modèles has taken over the manufacture and the distribution of the famous Phoenix charming ladies." Fons |
