I have just watched Kung Fu Hustle on TV and now have the urge to paint some Chinese Policemen for Pulp Games but cant find anything suitable . The closest I can come up with is Chinese heads.

With British Officer bodies .

Maybe some Battle Honours or similar 8th Army British Officers would do but I can't find any photos of them. Has anybody done anything similar ? I checked through the old threads but did'nt seeing any ideas.

Do they have to be in shorts?

What about the Chinese officers in the Copplestone range or the Dare to Die set?

D A THB01 Oct 2006 6:36 p.m. PST

I'd like them in shorts as I have the Copplestone officers awaiting paint for my Warlord army .
Lets hope Pulp or some-one spots the gap in the market .
Thanks Dan.

Depends what you mean by "Chinese Police". If you mean police under the control of local Chinese governments then that could be some ask .

If you are looking at Chinese in foreign service in the 1920s /'30s then the modern Hong Kong Police look may not be the best start point. The uniform is essentially 1960s and very British in origin.

If you want police for the International Concessions then the HK Police look won't fit the bill ('scuse the pun).

Probably the most famous police presence in places like Shanghai were the Sikh contingent.

A little bit earlier (1910) but here's a pic of some Sikh policemen, presumably kitted out for a review.

The various International concessions would have police whose uniform, not surprisngly mirrors to greater or lesser degree that of the nation in question. For some nice pics of French police in Shanhai try this site:

Hi thanks for the links , I was under the impression from the film that black uniform with shorts was the uniform but as you say thats a sixties style so will have to think again , and thanks you have saved me some work.
I was wondering if the traffic lights were accurate too but I guess thats sixties as well.

Eureka do a range of Victorian policemen. Some head swaps might be a start.

One place for references is George Rémi's "Le Louts Bleu". Given that the album was the turning part of his career when he started to invest a lot of research and design, I'm pretty sure that you can get away with basing your policemen on those of the Hou Kou incident.

Simply paint some Chinese Warlord Officers in black with yellow trim.

Drats. That would be "Le Lotus Bleu".
