After disappointment with toys associated with KK movie and the Schleich toy Gorilla (Good for Mighty Joe Young but not Kong), I see this guy. $25.00 USD is a pretty penny but he could be the one for this KK fanatic. (Anyone out there remember the 1970's & 1980's greater NYC Thanksgiving tradition of Giant Ape movies on Channel 9?) link Anyone have an idea exactly how big this guy is? Any pictures anywhere of him next to a 28mm figure? |

I'd love to see that as well! My friend Chuck was just mentioning this monstrosity last week for use in Pulp gaming and it got me to wondering what the size was. And how it might compare to the Hundred Kingdoms Giant Gor model

its about 80mm in height. Tough to tell exactly becaue he is bent forward and I don't have one in my own collection. Goes great with our Caribbean Empires Bone Island Warriors and Merchant ship crews. link Hope that helps – Lon BrigadeGames.com |

I picked one up when my FLGS was having a 20% off sale and man it's huge. Much bigger than I thought, but looks great as a "Kong" or "Mighty Joe Young" sized ape. A must have for any pulp jungle gaming. -B6 |

Bravo Six: Would a standard 28mm guy be up to elbow on the arm he rests on? Just trying to get an idea. |

Dang, I've been very, very hard at work on my Old West figs and buildings for the last several months, toiling away with determination to get at least a semblence of a town completed before any distractions came along. Now, the Old West itself was a deviation from Langton Napoleonic Naval, which in turn was a deviation from getting near completion of all "outstanding" Conquest and Perry FIW/AWI figs, which IIRC, was a deviation from near completion of Northwest Frontier, which was a deviation from my Zulu project. ("Near completion" of course being a very nebulous, inexact term in this hobby.) Then I saw the giant ape. Then the Caribbean US Marines. Then the armed merchant marine types. Curse you, Mysterioso! Curse to Heck!!!!! |

Well, I've just been informed that one of my best buddies already HAS the Giant Gor, so I'll be seeing (and apparently painting) the model in a couple of days. I never knew he had even bought it when we were at the last Cold Wars! |

I just compared him to a few regular reaper Dark Heaven models. They come up to his elbow on the arm that is knuckle walking. He's Mighty Joe Young sized for 28mm, King Kong sized or bigger for 15mm. An excellent model for sure. Mine went together very easily with only one tiny gap. |

You can also go to reapermini.com/Greens and select the greens for 1/10/06 and see a picture of the green next to a regular 28mm mini. |

mjkerner: I'll take some of the blame but I think Lon of Brigade Games should be held accountable too as it was his putting everything Pulp on his together in one easy to find situation. Merchant Ship Crew and Kabaka K'Wana are on the top of my list of must buy from Brigade. Hexxenhammer: Thanks, the green picture you rummaged up is exactly what I wanted to see. |

Found my flgs selling off minis which hadn't moved. Purchased Kabaka Kwana for only $5 USD and assembled him the next day. Very nice model. |
Bravo Six | 22 Sep 2006 9:11 a.m. PST |
Chick, did you have to pin the arms and legs? I noticed Reaper made the insets into the body, so as to avoid the typical "flush to apendage" and needing a pinning fare. -B6 |

From the actual website
" Kabaka K'Wana, Giant Ape Lord Metal miniature, requires assembly Approximately 80mm in height Unpainted Great for Pulp scenarios" |
Hexxenhammer | 22 Sep 2006 9:35 p.m. PST |
I didn't pin mine. The posts are huge. I added a little green stuff just to make sure, but it wasn't totally necessary. |
Mysterioso | 23 Sep 2006 5:58 a.m. PST |
Well, yes, it does say that it is 80mm. But as with so many other figures, it is difficult to know what that means. (Hence the constant question of will 28mm Figure X really work with 28mm Figure Y?) Is it 80mm from toe to head, knuckle to head, etc.? Who knew what with the picture just being of the one figure? Thus I appreciate Hexxenhammer digging up the comparison picture. It was worth a "1000 words". |

I took the head of the Giant Gor and put it on Kabaka kwana. They were both sculpted by Jason Weibe and the effect of the larger Gore head makes this a truly King Kong type miniature plus a female kong as a by product. |
