Seems my Game Design post not showing up on the home page when it should:

Here are some rules for Rolerball:

And someone else made their own tabletop game as well:

Looks like those old Tudor electric fotball players converted to a new sport!

Very cool, Mark! How did you make the arena-board?

Funny that this post shows up….

Anyone interested in the ORIGINAL 'Rollerball' should come and visit, or even join, what looks to be a very promising group of like-minded enthusiats. I've already joined, and I can tell y'all that so far it looks like it'll be fun and informative!

Tell 'em "Larry" invited ya:

ANDREAS,

I did not make the board, someon else did.I have emailed them for info on how to do this,so will let you know if I get a reply.

SAGINAW,
That tribe.net link is how I found out about the tabletop game;posted on that board under the "Rollerball Tabletop Game" discussion topic.

Hope I get a chance to make my own tabletop game from the ideas here for my son and I to enjoy.

Hey all,

I'm the guy with the big Rollerball set up. I built it about 5 years ago, but had been thinking about designing a game since the late '80s (when it was pretty clear no one else was probably going to do one.)

I was approached at the start of summer by one of the larger game companies about publishing my miniature rules. While the deal eventually fell through, it did show there was still a lot of interest in a Rollerball game some 30 years after the original movie was released. I am now talking to another publisher about the possibility of releasing something, so we'll see.

In the meantime, in preparing an "official" version of the game I made some contacts and did a lot of research into the "history" of this fictional sport. Rather than see this material languish, I've now collected some of it together — including the long-sought-after "real" rules — in an online article.

You can read it here: home.nc.rr.com/jape77

As for the game, I will keep you posted as to when, and in what form, it will return.

As promised, here's the update on my set of rules …

After due consideration I've decided to release my rules for free under Creative Commons licensing. You can now download the complete game from my site (http://japenet.net in the games section) as a PDF containing the rules, track sections and playing pieces -- all of which can be printed out on a standard color printer.

Happy Holidays!
