I am trying to find references like Jane's but for the 70's and 60's. Did Janes have references on AFV back than. Jon |

Not sure about early Janes but I started using them and subscribing to the magazine around 1977. I still have some issues as I was an Image Interpreter for a few years early in military service. VR James Mattes |

I have some military guides like Janes for the 70's/80's. Was there something specific you were after? Also try second hand bookshops, that's where I got mine. |

I've got an AFV from '80-81, IIRC. |

From their home page: "Founded in 1898, Jane's has always been at the forefront of publishing and developing information solutions for its customers. Jane's provides an unique and independent service that allows its clients the ability to make mission or business critical decisions with assurance." Their first ship data was published in 1898. No front page listing, though, of when their first AFV book was published, although I'd suspect much earlier than 1970s. |

Perhaps do a search in the British Library online catalog? |

The volume I was thinking of (just dug it out) was "Jane's World Armoured Fighting Vehicles" by Christoper Foss, published 1976. I got this as I am interested in gaming the British Army, but with Chieftains and FV432s as oppose to Challengers and Warriors. I also got a couple of books of a similar vintage on the British Army (can't recall titles, sorry). All bought from 2nd hand book shops. Malc |
