So, I pulled out all my Armorcast terrain last night… 98% of it is unpainted. In addition to the Samurai Wall box set they did for Clan War, I also have several of their short and tall bamboo walls.

I've seen this stuff painted up in a gold/tan option (like on the box of the wall set) as well as with a color scheme like weathered wood. I'm thinking about maybe going for green as if the bamboo were fresh.

Anybody got thoughts/suggestions for bamboo?

Thanks!

Think Id try a couple of different schemes first David….maybe the more mature bamboo would look good with a wheat or yellowish sand colour, lightly highlighting a brown. As for green maybe do some sections that colour as though there are newer sections. You might even experiment by giving a "yellowish" bamboo a green wash ,as though the piece is only partly fresh.

Bamboo actually weathers to a mottled grey color quickly in tropical sunshine. So if you want the structure to look like is has been around for more than a couple of months it would tend to be grey.

That said, most people in non-tropical areas think of bamboo as yellow/tan and are more comfortable seeing it in those colors.

Those are definitely the 2 color schemes I've seen. I'm sorely tempted go to with green for the fresh bamboo, though.
