My dad recently moved to Charleston, he's looking for the local game stores. What are everyone's favorites? |

There aren't any true hobby stores in either city. I live in Columbia (formerly Charleston) so have your dad contact me if he has any other questions. Charleston: There is a Hobbytown in West Ashley that probably still carries GW – haven't been there in around a year. Green Dragon in North Charleston has some Fantasy stuff but is primarily CCG and other types of merchandise. Columbia: Heroes & Dragons is part comics store, part gaming. They carry GW, Reaper and some other Fantasy items along with a selection of boardgames. Also an open gaming area. Silver City Comics has a few fantasy items but is mainly comics. |

There's one in Columbia called "Heros and Dragons" or something like that. I've only been there a couple times on road trips. They have comics and game figs like 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, Warmachine & Hordes. They also have about 10 gaming tables in the back room. Sorry, don't know of anything about Charleston. |

I forgot to mention the Siege of Augusta convention in Augusta, GA in January. Don't miss it! If you are ever in Greenville, the Borderlands store carries GW, Warmachine, FOW and some other stuff. |

Borderlands is the best in SC by far! And Stan (the owner) is a terrific guy. |

There really is not much in Charleston. The HobbyTown is the best bet. The Green Dragon is okay for gaming. They mainly have "Clix" games and not much wargaming. The last time I went there they had alot of RpGs and Clix games. There was a smattering of historical games and miniatures. Robert Jordan used to frequent the store when he was alive. My friend saw him visit. The owner, Scott, was pretty good friends with him from what I understand. Back in the day the Green Dragon had a thriving BattleTech crowd and magic and Vampire the masquerade group. I think the store started to get away from miniatures and more into collectible miniatures. If your dad likes new age stuff or martial arts weapons he will be very happy going there. There is a good gaming store in Savannah, Georgia. It is called Morningstar Games. I am really good friends with the owner. They play lots of warhammer 40k. The store also has lots of FoW and historical boardgames. The owner's name is Jeff. He is a great guy. Savannah is about 2.5 – 3 hours from Charleston. It is a nice road trip if your dad feels adventurous. Saturday is the best time for getting a pick up 40k game. |
