These are the new horse and musket rules from Piquet and I'm wondering if any of you fine folks have had an opportunity to read or play them. The blurb on their website doesn't describe figure ratio, basing etc. It seems to suggest that they are a streamlined version of Piquet and I'm wondering if that's the case.

It is indeed a streamlined Piquet. I saw numerous demos at Historicon (I was in ther booth next door). Can't tell you much about it, but it is consistent, I understand, with Piquet in terms of basing, scales, etc.

I was in a 10 player game with Peter Anderson. It was great, over in just under 3 hours. Initiative is levelled between the sides, but when you move your troops, you make a leadership test, which can give you 1-3 moves, and possibly allow you to deploy. The quick play sheet is a single page. Morale is consistant. While it is a little "higher level" or more abstract than regular Piquet, I liked it more, I think. It had all the good stuff from Piquet but was simpler and consistant, and easy to remember (especially as I don't play often enough).

Fig ratio and basing are just like normal Piquet. Basically, it doesn't matter as long as you're consistant.

Thank you gentlemen. Think I'll buy myself a copy. Piquet's solo capabilities have always appealed to me but the lengthy set up always turned me off. This sounds like a nice compromise.

How does it compare with Command Piquet?
