I thought that you would like this "Celebrations have begun in Mongolia to mark the 800th anniversary of Genghis Khan's establishment of the Mongol Empire. In the rolling Mongolian grasslands, soldiers and actors are marking the occasion by performing lavish re-enactments of their hero's greatest battles"

I believe every Mongol has a suit stashed away somewhere. I've seen several documentaries and dramatisations since the late 80's that featured large numbers of reenactors.

That picture of the two spearmen with the cellphone is marvelous.

Pictures of the outskirts of Ulan-Bator should tell you exactly how far beyond their roots the Mongolians have chosen to go. Horsemanship is still a widely practiced skill, and a chunk of the population is still somewhat nomadic.

Give them rayguns and they would be perfect as the Mongo Palace Guard of Ming The Merciless ;)

Are you listening Dick Garrison? ;)

I understand that riding and shooting from horseback with automatic rifles is still standard military drill. I bet there are very few indeed who can do that with a 70# composite bow!
