Hiya fellahs,
I have lately been thinking of getting back into colonial gaming, but instead of doing small skirmishes I was thinking of doing large battles in the Egyptian War and Gordon relief expedition and for this I wanted to use 15mm figs. I have looked at a few different manufacturers but I can't decide which one to choose so I wanted hear your recommendations for which company to buy from. (Preferably one that dosent use UPS)
Also is there a 15mm manufacturer of Bashi Bazooks.
Thanks for your help,
Mike.

Hi,

can't help too much - both my 15mm colonial armies are Essex. However, they are quite nice figures if a litle basic compared with more recent 15mm's.

Let me list a few manufacturers in order, starting with what I consider to be the best figures:

Stone Mountain Miniatures
Lancashire Games
Minifigs
Essex
Irregular Miniatures

Stone Mountain seem to be the cleanest sculpts in 15mm... but for selection of different troop types, Minifigs can't be beaten. Irregular sculpts are pretty rough but offer some good variations.

Old Glory is the way to go.

Cameron and LTC Reinwald are bang on. If you go with Irregular Miniatures, be prepared for a bit of work. Minifigs and Essex are great. Also consider 10mm mini's from Pendraken.

I second the vote for Old Glory. You can't beat the price and the figs paint up great. Just finished 200 dervishes.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Old Glory 15's is having a sale. Check their site and save a bunch. No, I am not a paid endorser.

Sorry I left Old Glory out of my recommendations - I'm glad LTC Reinwald points them out. They are reasonably well-sculpted, and have the best (IMO) variety of poses of all lines. They're also, as far as I have seen, the only manufacturer to make, in 15mm, a British officer in patrol jacket and cap (as opposed to tunic and sun helmet).

Anyone seen the new Battle Honours 15mm Boxers? Tempted to buy a wad - sizewise do they fit with Irregular, Grumpys or Falcon?

The 15mm Colonial lines are great but I did not see any Minifig 15mm Colonial Cavalry or Artillery on the Minifigs UK site. The Minifigs Catalog shows the complete line. Where did they go?

Found them. Thanks.
